Being Kind to the Cruel Never Ends Well

The Moroccan Tourist Terrorist

By: Phyllis Chesler

Dear Readers:

I jumped on the news about yesterday’s terrorist attack in Tel Aviv rather hastily because it suddenly occurred to me that, from now on, Jihadists and Jew haters from anywhere on earth might decide to join Hamas/Iran’s slaughter of the Jews by “traveling,” as tourists, to Israel.

We do know that Israel has just won a major military victory against Hamas, one with the least civilian casualties possible; that Israel has superior military intelligence; and that both the Mossad and the Shin Bet (Israel’s Security Service) are world renowned for their incredible achievements and sometimes, for their blunders.

Having said this: What I did not know last night, was that Israel’s version of DEI, which sometimes amounts to a pro-Arab/pro-enemy ideology, might have been responsible for Shin Bet’s decision to be kind, bend over backwards, think the best about Muslims who hail from Muslim countries, or from the West, in terms of allowing them into an Israel which is under the most profound siege.

And so: Please note the following details about the Moroccan-born terrorist.

JNS quotes from Israel’s Channel 12 which reported that the “terrorist was in the United States on a DV-1 visa, suggesting that he obtained a Green Card in the Diversity Visa Program that U.S. President Donald Trump may end.

According to Israel’s Ynet news, “the terrorist, identified as Kaddi Abdelaziz, had shared anti-Israel content on Facebook. In one post, he reportedly accused the Jewish state of starving civilians in northern Gaza, claiming that half a million Palestinians were “at risk of dying from hunger.”

“The assailant, Kaddi Abdelaziz, 30, was neutralized by nearby security forces, including a Border Guardsman. The terrorist had permanent residency in the US and Moroccan citizenship. He arrived in Israel three days prior on a connection flight from Poland, claiming his purpose was a four-day visit. Recently, he posted numerous publications on his Facebook account, addressing the situation in the Gaza Strip. Hamas commended the attack.

Israeli border authorities noticed several suspicious signs as he arrived, including that he was single, without family, without friends in the country, did not provide a hotel address. He was transferred to the Shin Bet security agency’s interrogators, who eventually approved his entry after they found no grounds to prevent it.”

According to Ynet news: Tel Aviv stabber Kaddi Abdelaziz in social media posts accused Israel of starving Gazans and shared images glorifying a terrorist. Interior Minister Moshe Arbel noted that border control officers from the Population and Immigration Authority identified Abdelaziz as a threat in real time and sought to prevent him from entering Israel. Border control transferred Abdelaziz to Shin Bet security officials for further questioning; Shin Bet ultimately allowed him to enter Israel. Three days later Kaddi Abdelaziz stabbed 5 people.”

Well, dear Readers: I am busy eating my hat. But I must ask, rather unhappily, does Israel also suffer from a “deep state” DEI problem? Has American and European ideas about never thinking badly of your enemy; not all Arabs or Muslims are jihadists (that’s certainly true), but come to think of it, most jihadists are Muslims.

The Talmud teaches us that when we are kind to the cruel we end up being cruel to the kind and to the innocent.
