(TJV) Reports of mysterious “strange lights” in New Jersey skies have sparked widespread intrigue and security concerns, with former Governor Chris Christie joining the call for a thorough investigation. According to UPI, Christie said he witnessed a drone hovering over his home, an experience he described as unprecedented in his three decades living there.

“That was a drone over my house, and I’ve never seen anything like that before,” Christie shared during an appearance on ABC’s This Week on Sunday.

The unusual sightings, coupled with concerns about drones posing potential threats, have prompted demands for answers. UPI reported that Christie urged officials to empower state police to take decisive action, saying, “Bring those drones down and find out why they’re doing what they’re doing.” He criticized what he called a lack of clear communication from federal and state authorities, adding, “You can see why people are concerned.”

Meanwhile, the mystery deepened with an incident in Boston, where two men were arrested Saturday after a drone flew dangerously close to Logan International Airport, according to a police statement cited by UPI. Authorities tracked the drone to Boston Harbor’s Long Island, where they discovered three individuals trespassing in an abandoned health facility. Two were apprehended, and a drone was found in one suspect’s backpack. The third person reportedly fled by boat, with police still searching for the individual.

Federal officials have stepped in to address public concerns. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas assured viewers on ABC’s This Week that the federal government is actively assisting New Jersey State Police in their investigation. UPI noted Mayorkas’ statement that there is no evidence of foreign involvement and emphasized that the sheer volume of drones registered and flying in the U.S. makes such incidents not uncommon. The FAA’s 2023 rule change allowing night flights for drones has added to the complexity.

Despite acknowledging the growing role of drones in commerce and law enforcement, Christie stressed the need for better regulation to ensure safety and transparency. “We need to operate in a safe way, and we’re not doing that,” he said.

New Jersey Senator Andy Kim also weighed in, sharing his observations from a ride-along with local police. In a social media post highlighted by UPI, Kim described seeing multiple drones flying low over the ridge line in Clinton Township.

The situation has even drawn comments from President-elect Donald Trump, who, according to UPI, demanded greater transparency from the government regarding the New Jersey drone activity. In a post on Truth Social, Trump urged officials to disclose information to the public and, if necessary, take decisive action: “Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!”

As investigations continue, both federal and local authorities are working to unravel the mystery behind New Jersey’s lights and ensure public safety.
