Danger to Middle East Interests

Dear Editor:

In today’s very dangerous world with the Middle East at a vast time of change, Muslim Brotherhood leader, Tawakkol Karman is one of the most dangerous people in the world. Karman is a member of Meta’s oversite committee, the Supreme Court which determines content on Facebook and Instagram, she is one of 21 people on an independent board which Mark Zuckerberg cannot fire.

On the payroll of an American publicly traded company, with a civil war brewing in Syria, today she tweeted “The road to Jerusalem passes through Damascus and Aleppo, I agree with this saying”, following Muslim Brotherhood rhetoric. To millions of followers she is calling on this Al-Qaeda off-shoot to conquer all of Syria and continue on to Israel.

Long recognized by the Saudis as a danger to the region, Karman today on her blog strongly criticized the “Iranian axis of evil” for its detrimental impact on the Palestinian cause. She “…asserted that only with Iran’s withdrawal from the conflict would Palestinians be able to liberate their land and achieve the return of all refugees. She stated unequivocally that the Palestinian people are strong and capable of self-determination.” Karman condemned the Iranian influence, stating that no party “has offended the sanctity and justice of the Palestinian cause as profoundly as this axis.”

Muhammad Badr, an Egyptian Member of Parliament today said that “one of the worst things that happened in the history of the Nobel Prize is that she won the prize. Terrorist with a Nobel Prize.” Karman’s influence reaches hundreds of millions of people as she sets limits on what can and can’t be said on Meta. She can inspire revolutions – on Meta’s oversight board which already encourages shaheed, jihad and more.

In a recent op-ed, she called for a full boycott of Israel and complete arms embargo. It’s not just the West which is concerned – as a leading Italian newspaper reported today, Karman has repeatedly spoken of the Palestinians liberating all of Israel. Karman is on the Supreme Court of one of the most important companies in the world, Meta, which is unregulated and influences hundreds of millions worldwide. It is intolerable that an American public company can permit the things being said today by one of the foremost decision makers at Meta. Meta must be investigated immediately as this company unregulated is a grave danger to the West. There are upcoming investigations that new Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr will be launching, and from the US to Israel, Saudi to Europe, Meta must be investigated.

Muslim Brotherhood influencing content unregulated sounds like something out of an Orwellian movie – but it’s true.

Sincerely
Ross Glick

The ICC’s Credibility is in the Toilet

Dear Editor:

The ICC has flushed its credibility down the toilet through the manner in which it arrived at the decision to issue arrest warrants for Bibi Netanyahu, Yoav Gallant and Mohammad Deif. The warrant for Deif was the most cynical of all because he no longer exists. Issuing a warrant for a corpse pretty well sums up the incompetence of the Court.

The ICC arrived at a decision without considering any evidence exculpating the defendants. All the evidence was provided by UNWRA spokespeople who have a serious conflict of interest because Israel is trying to disband the organization and the organization needs to blacken Israel’s reputation in order to survive. Any honest court would have considered the possible tainting of evidence.

Only after the verdict was rendered, did an ICC spokesman urge Netanyahu and Gallant to appear before the court to enjoy the principle of them being considered innocent and found guilty. Shouldn’t this have occurred during the trial even with the defendants absent?

The ICC’s decision aligns it with Russian courts that decide the guilt or innocence of defendants before the trial starts. Contrary to Byers assertion that, “The ICC arrest warrant will hang over Netanyahu for the rest of his life”, Netanyahu will forever be known as the second prominent Jew unjustly convicted of a crime he did not commit. The ICC, not Netanyahu will wear the badge of infamy for life.

Christians Forced to Leave Bethlehem

Dear Editor:

In 1967, Christians made up 80% of Bethlehem’s population. During the period from the 6-Day War to Arafat’s Intifada, there were no barriers to traffic between Israel, Gaza, Judea and Samaria. Muslims, Christians and Jews travelled back and forth to work, shop and play.

The 1993-95 Oslo Accords marked the end of Christian Bethlehem. No sooner had Arafat been welcomed into the PA areas, than his followers began grabbing whatever they wanted, and they wanted Bethlehem and Beit Jala, which lies between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

80% of Bethlehem’s Christians were forced out and the PLO confiscated their properties. Today, Bethlehem is 80% Muslim.

In 2000, following the Camp David talks between Clinton, Arafat and Barak, Arafat unleashed his suicide bombers on Israeli civilians. This ended the peaceful commerce the region had enjoyed and Bethlehem became more isolated. The Church of the Nativity was later over-run and desecrated by PLO fighters.

Israel built the security barrier to thwart terror attacks. The passage through the barrier near Bethlehem is lightly guarded and traffic flows through, slowing but rarely stopping.

Help Patronize Small Businesses

Dear Editor:

Why not celebrate Small Business Saturday, November 30th by shopping locally between Sunday and Friday every day of the year.

Small independent businesses are at the mercy of suppliers, who control the price they have to pay for merchandise.

The employees go out of their way to help find what I need. Customer service is their motto. As an independent mom and pop store, they don’t have bulk buying purchasing power that Amazon or large national chain stores have. This is why they sometimes charge a little more. It is worth the price to avoid the crowds and long lines at larger stores in exchange for the convenience and friendly service your neighborhood community store offers.

Our local entrepreneurs have continued the good fight to keep their existing staff and suppliers employed without layoffs and canceling supply orders. They work long hours, pay taxes and keep people employed.

Customers patronize other commercial establishments on the block. Foot traffic is essential for the survival of any neighborhood commercial district.

The owners of independent mom and pop stores are the backbone of our neighborhood commercial districts. Show your support by making a purchase.

Sincerely,
Larry Penner
