Two protesters, described as pro-terror anarchists, were arrested Tuesday night during a heated demonstration against Israel in Brooklyn’s Marine Park neighborhood. According to the information provided in a report in The Jewish Press, the protest, which targeted an Israeli real estate information event at the Kingsway Jewish Center synagogue on Kings Highway, sparked tensions and inconvenienced local residents. The report in The Jewish Press indicated that the demonstration was marked by provocative rhetoric and disruptive actions, highlighting ongoing divisions surrounding Israel-related events in New York City.

The event at the synagogue was intended to showcase Anglo neighborhoods in Israel to interested attendees, providing information about opportunities for potential buyers. However, the protest organized by the Palestinian Assembly for Liberation-Awda NY/NJ (PAL-AWDA) accused the event of promoting “stolen land.” Flyers distributed by PAL-AWDA featured the slogan, “Stop the sale of stolen land!” as part of their campaign against the real estate presentation.

One of the protest’s more contentious moments involved a member of the anti-Israel Neturei Karta sect displaying a sign that read, “Jews have NO rights to a land of their own,” a statement that inflamed tensions and underscored the ideological divide. The Jewish Press report documented the event as part of its ongoing coverage of anti-Israel activism and its impact on local Jewish communities.

Residents of Marine Park described the protest as a disruption rather than a significant local incident. Speaking with The Jewish Press, one anonymous resident dismissed the event as a nuisance, noting that the protesters were only present for a few hours. Another resident remarked on the protesters’ tactic of staging demonstrations at night when there are fewer potential counter-protesters to challenge their actions.

Despite the low turnout, the demonstrators managed to disrupt traffic and intimidate residents by marching through an Orthodox Jewish residential area near the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Kings Highway. Their chants, including “Our Streets! Free, Free Palestine!” and aggressive interactions with police, created a tense atmosphere. One protester even yelled an obscenity at an NYPD officer maintaining security, further highlighting the protest’s volatile nature.

While the primary protest group attracted the most attention, a small counter-protest also took place. The Jewish Press reported that NYPD officers cordoned off the two groups to prevent direct confrontations, but the pro-Palestinian activists responded by marching into nearby streets, snarling traffic in an area already challenged by congestion. It remains unclear whether the protesters obtained a permit for their march.

As The Jewish Press reported noted, the NYPD arrested two individuals from the pro-terror group during the demonstration. The reasons for the arrests were not immediately clear, but their detention underscored the heightened security concerns surrounding such events.

The Marine Park protest reflects broader patterns of activism targeting Jewish and Israel-related events in the United States. The Jewish Press has consistently documented such incidents, noting the disruptive and often hostile tactics employed by groups opposed to Israel. While the protest organizers framed their actions as a stand against perceived injustices, local Jewish residents viewed the demonstration as both intimidating and unwarranted.

Despite the tensions, the real estate event proceeded without incident, serving its intended purpose of informing attendees about opportunities in Israel. For residents and community members, the event’s success in the face of protest served as a quiet but meaningful act of resilience.
