Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone made headlines this week with an impassioned endorsement of Donald Trump, likening the president-elect to both George Washington and his own iconic underdog character, Rocky Balboa. Speaking at the America First Policy Institute gala at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Thursday, Stallone delivered a glowing tribute to his longtime friend, as was reported in The New York Daily News.

The event, hosted by the right-wing think tank, saw the Oscar-nominated actor and filmmaker take center stage to introduce the 47th president with an effusive speech that left no doubt about his admiration. Stallone, 78, drew bold parallels between Trump and America’s first president, describing Trump as a transformative figure destined to reshape the world.

“When George Washington defended this country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world,” Stallone said, according to a report in The New York Daily News. “Without him, you could imagine what the world would look like. Guess what? We got the second George Washington.”

Stallone’s comparison didn’t stop at the Founding Fathers. The report in The New York Daily News indicated that he also invoked the themes of perseverance and transformation central to his beloved film Rocky. Reflecting on the opening scene of the 1976 classic, Stallone recalled the symbolic imagery of the movie’s first frame.

“When I did Rocky, if you remember, the first image was a picture of Jesus,” he said. “The image pans out from Jesus onto Rocky being hit. And at that moment, he was a chosen person. … This man was going to go through a metamorphosis and change lives — just like President Trump.”

The actor lauded Trump as a “mythical character” who, like Rocky, defied all odds to achieve victory. “We’re in the presence of a really mythical character,” Stallone remarked, The New York Daily News report said .“I love mythology. And this individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could’ve pulled off what he pulled off — so I’m in awe.”

Stallone’s endorsement of Trump places him among a growing list of conservative celebrities who have openly aligned with the MAGA movement. As per the information provided in The New York Daily News report, other notable figures who have voiced support for Trump include Caitlyn Jenner, Zachary Levi, and Justine Bateman.

As reported by The New York Daily News, Stallone’s remarks drew enthusiastic applause from the audience, underscoring his enduring influence as a Hollywood icon and his status as a prominent voice among Trump’s celebrity supporters. His speech added a theatrical flair to the gala and further cemented Trump’s close ties to a segment of high-profile entertainers.

For Stallone, whose career has been defined by portraying characters who overcome adversity, Trump embodies a similar narrative. His words on Thursday highlighted his belief that Trump’s journey mirrors the archetypal hero’s path — a testament to resilience, ambition, and the ability to inspire.
