Megyn Kelly has sharply criticized MSNBC host Joy Reid for her recent comments about President-elect Donald Trump and his supporters, calling Joy Reid’s rhetoric inflammatory and divisive. During Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM, Kelly accused Reid of inciting racial discord and suggested that her tenure at the network could soon come to an end.

“She wants a race riot. That’s really what you take away listening to Joy Reid,” Kelly said, reacting to Reid’s claims that Trump intends to deport minorities, including some with legal status, upon taking office. The New York Post reported that Kelly characterized Reid’s comments as a deliberate attempt to provoke unrest.
“It’s a tick-tock situation until her ass is fired,” Kelly added, suggesting that MSNBC may not tolerate Reid’s controversial statements for much longer.

The controversy stems from remarks Reid made on her MSNBC show last Friday, where she claimed that Trump’s administration would pursue aggressive immigration policies, including denaturalization—the process of revoking citizenship, The New York Post reported.
“Don’t think because you have a green card and came through the ‘right way’ — if you’re brown, you may not stick around,” Reid said during the broadcast. “They’re pulling people out and taking people out of this country whether you like it or not.”
Reid suggested that the Trump administration would adopt a “meat ax approach” to immigration policy, targeting even those who are legally residing in the United States. According to the information provided in The New York Post report, these claims come amid Trump’s repeated campaign promises to deport millions of undocumented immigrants and enforce stricter immigration laws during his second term.
Kelly also criticized comments Reid made on TikTok, where she discouraged liberal white women from inviting Black women to participate in anti-Trump protests. Reid argued that Black women would prioritize supporting their own communities over engaging in broader political activism.

“She actually does want some sort of rioting in the streets, some sort of race revolt,” Kelly said, as was noted in The New York Post report, describing Reid’s rhetoric as divisive and racially charged.
Kelly also took aim at MSNBC’s parent company, Comcast, accusing the network of enabling what she called Reid’s “racist hate.”
Reid’s comments come in the wake of Trump’s landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in last week’s election. As The New York Post reported, Trump’s win was bolstered by a significant number of minority voters who shifted their allegiance from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.
Exit polls indicated that a majority of Latino men supported Trump, a trend that Reid addressed on her show. The New York Post reported that during a Thursday broadcast, she criticized Latino men who voted for Trump, claiming they would “own” the administration’s immigration policies.

In addition to her controversial immigration comments, Reid interviewed a Yale-affiliated psychiatrist on Thursday’s show. The psychiatrist encouraged LGBTQ+ individuals to sever ties with family members who voted for Trump, particularly during the upcoming holiday season.
This suggestion drew further criticism from Kelly, who described it as an example of the divisive tone Reid brings to her broadcasts.
Kelly predicted that Reid’s inflammatory rhetoric could jeopardize her position at MSNBC. “The Comcast-owned cable network is allowing her to spew this racist hate on their channel,” Kelly said. She suggested that Reid’s dismissal from the network may only be a matter of time, given the backlash her statements have generated.
As of now, MSNBC has not commented on the controversy, according to The New York Post.
Reid’s comments have reignited debates about media responsibility, free speech, and the role of television hosts in shaping public discourse. Critics such as Kelly argue that such statements risk deepening societal divisions at a time when tensions are already high.
For MSNBC, the controversy raises questions about the network’s editorial standards and its willingness to address incendiary remarks made by its hosts. Whether Reid will face disciplinary action—or whether her comments will continue to spark heated debates—remains to be seen.
