(TJV) The Israel Air Force (IAF) and the IDF carried out multiple interceptions and retaliatory strikes following a series of alerts in the Galilee and Ashkelon regions, as reported by the Jerusalem Post.

On Friday morning around 10 a.m., a rocket launched from Lebanon toward the Central Galilee was intercepted by the IDF. An hour later, the Jerusalem Post detailed, additional rockets aimed at Upper Galilee were successfully intercepted.

By midday, approximately 30 rockets crossed from Lebanon toward the Galilee, the IDF reported. Some of these projectiles were intercepted, though several hits were recorded, according to the Jerusalem Post. Near 1 p.m., the IDF intercepted two more rockets from Lebanon. Later in the day, at around 5 p.m., 16 more rocket launches were detected in Upper Galilee, with the IDF intercepting some while others caused impacts in the area.

In addition to these incidents, the IDF confirmed that two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip towards Ashkelon landed in open areas without causing damage. The Jerusalem Post also highlighted that two drones launched from Lebanon were intercepted by the IAF before they could enter Israeli airspace.

Throughout these escalations, the Jerusalem Post noted that air raid sirens sounded repeatedly. During these warnings, 12 individuals sustained minor injuries while seeking shelter, and three others were lightly injured due to a blast wave in the Western Galilee. In response to the Yom Kippur attacks, the IDF launched strikes on approximately 280 targets in Gaza and Lebanon, focusing on tunnels, weapons storage, and rocket launchers aimed at Israel.

The Jerusalem Post emphasized that the IDF eliminated around 50 Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, discovering weapon caches and other supplies linked to the group. In Gaza, over 200 militants were neutralized. Specific operations included the 162nd Division’s use of tanks, close combat, and airstrikes in Jabalya, eliminating more than 20 fighters. The 252nd Division targeted anti-tank squads in central Gaza, while additional IDF operations in Rafah neutralized threats to Israeli soldiers.

During these missions, the IAF targeted and destroyed rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, including an underground Hezbollah facility near the Syria-Lebanon border. According to the Jerusalem Post, strikes focused on Hezbollah and Hamas infrastructure, including command centers and weapon depots.

The clashes left two Israeli soldiers wounded, the IDF confirmed on Saturday evening. One officer from the Military Engineering School suffered severe injuries during combat in southern Gaza, while a reservist from the Alexandroni Brigade’s Battalion 9203 was critically injured in fighting in southern Lebanon on Friday. Both have been evacuated for medical treatment, with their families informed, reported the Jerusalem Post.
