Conservative radio talk show host Bill Spadea has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the Republican nomination for Governor of New Jersey in the 2025 election. According to a report in The New Jersey Globe, Spadea, known for his unapologetically conservative views and vocal support for former President Donald Trump, made the announcement on Monday with a platform centered on affordability, educational reform, and strict immigration policies.
In his announcement, Spadea outlined a series of commitments aimed at addressing what he sees as critical issues facing New Jersey. The New Jersey Globe reported that Spadea emphasized his intent to tackle the state’s high taxes, uncontrolled spending, borrowing, and inflation. He criticized the current state government for financial mismanagement and promised to implement tough budget cuts.
The New Jersey Globe report also said that he proposed revising the way schools are funded to alleviate the property tax burden on suburban parents. Spadea took a strong stance against what he termed as “radical, liberal nonsense” being taught in schools, pledging to provide a traditional education free from political indoctrination.
Spadea voiced his opposition to policies supporting undocumented immigrants, promising to prevent what he called “Joe Biden’s illegals” from being sent to New Jersey. Spadea’s campaign strategy may benefit from an ongoing federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of New Jersey’s “line” system, which could potentially lead to the use of office block ballots in the next primary election. The report said that this change could dilute the power of insider endorsements and organizational support, giving outsiders like Spadea a more level playing field.
Spadea positioned himself as a political outsider, a stance he believes resonates with many New Jersey voters who are frustrated with the current political establishment. “The insider establishment powerbrokers, well, they don’t like me,” he said, as was noted in the New Jersey Globe report. “Why? Spadea joins a competitive Republican field that includes State Senator Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield), former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli (R-Somerville), and former State Senator Ed “The Trucker” Durr (R-Logan). His entry adds a distinct dynamic to the race, emphasizing a sharp departure from traditional Republican strategies.
