Manhattan witnessed a tumultuous scene on Monday as thousands of anti-Israel protesters marched through the streets, demanding a cease-fire in Gaza. The demonstration took a disturbing turn when some protesters targeted prominent landmarks, including the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, accusing the respected hospital of complicity in genocide, as was reported by the New York Post.  The protests, which also extended to a Starbucks and a McDonald’s, raised concerns about the escalation of tensions and the impact on public safety.

The anti-Israel, pro-terror protesters, shouted “Shame!” as they targeted the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on the Upper East Side. Patients receiving treatment became unintended witnesses to the demonstration. According to the Post report, the rancorous protesters accused the hospital of complicity in genocide, with some claiming that the medical institution supports the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

During the event, an organizer instructed the crowd to ensure their voices were heard by those inside the hospital, adding to the tense atmosphere. The report in the Post said that chants of “MSK shame on you, you support genocide, too” echoed through the streets as demonstrators berated the renowned cancer center, even though it also serves as a pediatric hospital.

The demonstrators further expanded their focus, accusing a Starbucks and a McDonald’s restaurant of producing “meals for genocide.” According to the information provided in the report in the Post, this escalation pointed to a broader frustration among protesters, who sought to highlight what they perceived as complicity in the ongoing conflict through economic activities.

A scuffle ensued near Gracie Mansion, resulting in the arrest of a 16-year-old protester. As per the Post report, the altercation involved multiple officers and additional Palestinian supporters who gathered at the scene. The incident was captured on social media, showing the tense interactions between protesters and law enforcement, as was indicated in the Post report.

As the march progressed from Union Square to Gracie Mansion, protesters also targeted Mt. Sinai Medical Center at East 98th Street, accusing the institution of “supporting Zionism” and “genocide,” as was noted in the Post report. Police had to block entrances to various buildings on the medical center campus, redirecting patients and visitors.

The protests, initially advertised as a “Flood Manhattan for Gaza MLK Day march for healthcare,” escalated into confrontations and disruptions. The Post report also stated that the targeting of well-known medical institutions raised concerns about the potential impact on public safety and the ability of patients to access essential healthcare services.

One anti-Israel protester, 18, told The Post the images of Gaza have pulled at her heartstrings and motivated her to call for a cease-fire even though she isn’t Palestinian.

“It’s really been weighing heavy on my heart just seeing it on my timeline,” the resident who grew up in NYC told the Post. “Every single day it’s a different child.”

One Jewish resident on the Upper East Side told The Post she was “terrified” after a pair of cops had to escort her and her small dog out of a chanting crowd near East 87th Street.

“I thought I was in Germany in 1939,” said the 74-year-old resident, who declined to give her name, as was reported by the Post.

During the protests, some participants cheered upon learning that Iran had launched a ballistic missile attack near the U.S. Consulate in Iraq, the Post report said. This reaction added a concerning dimension to the demonstration, reflecting the rabidly anti-American positions of the protesters.
