Pro-Hamas demonstrators took to the streets of New York City on Monday, strategically blocking several key bridges and a tunnel to amplify their call for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which has persisted for three months. The protesters, chanting and occupying entrances to the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg bridges, as well as the Holland Tunnel, aimed to draw attention to their love of terrorism.

Law enforcement responded by arresting 325 demonstrators, swiftly reopening the roadways by noon. Mayor Eric Adams acknowledged the right to protest but condemned the blockade, emphasizing that peaceful demonstrations should not lead to major disruptions. He expressed concern for individuals facing emergencies and those commuting to work, highlighting the broader impact of such actions on the city.

The convergence of different radical, far left, extremist groups, including Jewish Voice for Peace, the Palestinian Youth Movement, and the New York chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, among others, orchestrated the protests, amplifying their message on platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

Banners carried by protesters at the Holland Tunnel conveyed messages such as “Lift the siege on Gaza,” “Ceasefire Now,” and “End the occupation,” emphasizing their core demands. One protester, visibly committed to the cause, stated, “The siege on Gaza needs to end, and I’m ready to put my body on the line to end it,” as she was led away by a police officer with her hands behind her back.
