(Becker News) Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did not react well to recent Supreme Court rulings that barred ‘affirmative action’ at universities, upheld freedom of conscience rights for Christians, and struck down President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional student loan ‘forgiveness’ order.
On Sunday, she appeared on CNN with Dana Bash and laid out a litany of allegations about the court and the Democrats’ machinations to get conservatives they disagree with off-the-court.
“First, we have a Senate Judiciary Committee that is beginning the process of investigating the entanglements and conflicts of interest,” she said. “Just one to two weeks before the student loan ruling, the country learned that Justice Samuel Alito was accepting gifts from billionaires who were lobbying against Supreme Court… or that were lobbying before the Supreme Court against student loan forgiveness.”
“Just, you know, just weeks before we learned that, that he was accepting gifts from them and travel and vacations from them before he decided to vote and rule in their favor,” she went on. “And so I believe that if justice, if Chief Justice Roberts will not come before Congress for an investigation voluntarily, I believe that we should be considering subpoenas, we should be considering investigations.”
“We have a broad level of tools to deal with misconduct, overreach, and abuse of power,” she went on. “And the Supreme Court has not been receiving the adequate oversight necessary in order to preserve their own legitimacy. And in the process, they themselves have been destroying the legitimacy of the court, which is profoundly dangerous for our entire democracy.”
If there’s anything that is undemocratic and an abuse of power, it’s “Democrats” seeking to pack the Supreme Court or to impeach justices for the alleged violation of disagreeing with them.
