The 2025 World Zionist Congress elections have seen unprecedented participation, with electronic voting concluding on Sunday and setting a new record for voter turnout. According to information from the American Zionist Movement (AZM), which administers what is often called the “parliament of the Jewish people,” an all-time record of 238,826 votes were cast electronically in this year’s election. As the JNS report noted, several thousand paper ballots are still being processed, but the current count has already surpassed the previous high of 210,957 votes set in 1987.

The JNS report highlighted that this 2025 turnout represents a remarkable increase of more than 90% compared to the 2020 election, which took place during the pandemic and drew 123,575 voters.

Despite electronic voting technology being employed, the AZM has indicated that preliminary results will not be revealed for “several weeks,” raising questions that JNS and other observers are keen to address.

The election has been marred by what JNS describes as scandals involving suspicious voting patterns and allegations of electoral manipulation. The American Zionist Movement has publicly committed to “ensuring that no improper votes are counted in the final results” and to “upholding the integrity of the election.”

JNS sources suggest that approximately 5% or more of the votes may have been cast under suspicious circumstances, potentially implicating as many as six different slates. The extensive report noted that AZM officials have not indicated whether they might disqualify entire slates found complicit in electoral irregularities.
