Far-right provocateur Laura Loomer has re-emerged in the political spotlight—this time with a direct line to the White House  and apparent influence over U.S. national security staffing. According to a report that appeared on Friday in The Jerusalem Post, Loomer, a Jewish conspiracy theorist known for her incendiary rhetoric and associations with white nationalist figures, recently urged President Trump to purge “neocon” officials from the National Security Council (NSC)—and the president seems to have listened.

Within a day of Loomer’s reported intervention, Trump dismissed up to 10 senior NSC officials, signaling a major ideological realignment within one of the country’s most influential foreign policy institutions. The Jerusalem Post report indicated that three of those ousted have been identified by reporters as Brian Walsh, Senior Director for Intelligence, Thomas Boodry, Senior Director for Legislative Affairs and David Feith, Senior Director for Technology and National Security.

Feith, notably, is Jewish and the son of Doug Feith, who served as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy under President George W. Bush—a key figure in the post-9/11 foreign policy landscape.

Loomer’s targeting of so-called “neocons” taps into a long-standing fissure within Republican foreign policy circles. As The Jerusalem Post report explained, the term “neocon” rose to prominence during the early 2000s and came to describe the hawkish, pro-interventionist architects of the Bush administration’s foreign policy—many of whom were Jewish, including Paul Wolfowitz, Elliot Abrams, and Doug Feith himself.

In recent years, however, “neocon” has been weaponized by elements of the far-right as a pejorative term, increasingly used to denote not just ideological disagreement, but also as a dog whistle for antisemitic tropes about Jewish power and dual loyalties, as per the information in The Jerusalem Post report.  Loomer’s use of the term—particularly in connection with Jewish officials—has triggered concern among Jewish advocacy groups and political observers.

While the mainstream definition refers to Republicans who believe in sustained American global engagement, including support for allies like Israel and Ukraine, Loomer and like-minded figures—including Vice President J.D. Vance—favor an America First, isolationist stance, which often frames global involvement as a betrayal of domestic priorities.

Loomer’s apparent political resurrection is all the more surprising considering her status just months ago. During the final stages of the 2023 presidential campaign, her presence on Trump’s private campaign jet sparked widespread criticism—even within conservative ranks. As The Jerusalem Post noted, many viewed her as a liability due to her history of Islamophobic, racist, and  conspiratorial statements, as well as her associations with figures like rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West) and white supremacist activist Nick Fuentes.

Loomer, 31, first gained notoriety in the mid-2010s by crashing public events and promoting unfounded theories under the guise of “independent journalism.” The report in The Jerusalem Post pointed out that in 2022, she openly addressed a white nationalist conference, calling herself a “white advocate.” In previous public statements, she has described herself as a “proud Islamophobe.”

Despite—or perhaps because of—her confrontational style, Loomer has continued to build a following among elements of the American far-right. Now, with Trump back in office, she appears to be capitalizing on that loyalty.

The implications of Loomer’s influence stretch far beyond mere staffing decisions. The National Security Council plays a critical role in shaping America’s foreign policy, from Middle East diplomacy and Israeli relations to broader geopolitical strategy. As observed in The Jerusalem Post report, the removal of interventionist-leaning personnel in favor of an isolationist outlook could drastically alter how the United States engages with global allies and adversaries alike.

Some analysts view the firings as an indication that Trump is consolidating a more ideologically uniform and anti-globalist inner circle, one that eschews traditional foreign policy expertise in favor of loyalty and ideological alignment.

While there has been no official statement confirming Loomer’s role in the firings, her timing and her past influence on Trump suggest more than coincidence. According to The Jerusalem Post report, journalists covering the Trump administration have corroborated the close proximity between her private appeal to the president and the subsequent dismissals.

In response to criticism over her growing influence, Loomer has frequently invoked her Jewish identity as a shield against backlash. The Jerusalem Post report indicated that while speaking to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in the wake of her controversial presence on Trump’s plane, Loomer said: “Why are they so afraid of a 31-year-old Jewish-American woman? A lot of people don’t like the fact that I’m a very outspoken, brash Jewish woman who also happens to be a diehard Trump supporter. They want to control what every Jew thinks, and they want Jews to be Democrats. I will never subscribe to their idea of who I should be.”

Her remarks reflect a recurring theme in her public persona—casting herself as a dissident voice within the Jewish community, even as she aligns herself with ideologies and individuals who have embraced antisemitism.

One of the most pressing questions now is how this ideological reshuffling might affect U.S.-Israel relations. While Trump has long positioned himself as a staunch supporter of Israel, the ascendance of isolationist voices such as Loomer’s within his inner circle raises concerns about America’s long-term strategic commitments.

If anti-interventionist views take deeper root within the administration, traditional bipartisan support for Israel—particularly in areas like military assistance, diplomatic coordination, and regional stability—may come under pressure.

Moreover, the dismissal of a Jewish security advisor such as David Feith, targeted through the “neocon” label, sends a troubling message about which ideological camps are being marginalized within Trump’s foreign policy brain trust.

Loomer’s resurgence represents more than just a controversial figure regaining influence—it highlights the ongoing transformation of the Republican Party. With establishment conservatives increasingly displaced by populists and isolationists, the GOP’s relationship with global engagement, the Jewish community, and traditional alliances is being redefined.
