Kansas City Paramedic Fatally Stabbed by Patient During Ambulance Transport

Early Sunday morning, tragedy struck the Kansas City Fire Department when paramedic Graham Hoffman, 29, was fatally stabbed by a patient he was trying to help, according to KMBC.

Hoffman, described as deeply committed to serving his community, was working overtime when he was attacked inside the ambulance by Shanetta Bossell. KMBC reported that Bossell had been arrested just last week after allegedly biting an off-duty police officer and attempting to stab him. She was released last Friday after posting a $10,000 bond.

Just days after her release, Bossell carried out the deadly assault that ended Hoffman’s life, KMBC noted.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas addressed the horrific incident, telling reporters Monday that the city will do everything possible to ensure the safety of its first responders moving forward. “We will do all we can to ensure that Graham’s family not only receives justice, but that all understand that our first responders, our paramedics, our police officers, our nurses, our physicians — everyone who gives care in our community — can be safe,” Lucas said, as cited by KMBC.

Social media users expressed outrage at Hoffman’s death, including the account End Wokeness, which posted:
“Say his name: Graham Hoffman. Killed in the ambulance by Shanetta Bossell WHILE ATTEMPTING TO HELP HER. She literally bit a cop last week. BUT WAS RELEASED ANYWAY.”

According to KMBC, the fatal attack occurred around 1 a.m. while Hoffman was transporting Bossell to Saint Luke’s Hospital on Barry Road. During the ride, Bossell allegedly stabbed Hoffman. Additional Kansas City Fire Department and Kansas City Police Department personnel quickly responded to the scene, KMBC reported.

Despite the efforts of first responders and medical teams at North Kansas City Hospital, Hoffman succumbed to his injuries. He had proudly served with the Kansas City Fire Department since 2022, according to KMBC.

On Monday, a solemn procession was held in honor of Graham Hoffman, a man remembered for his dedication, bravery, and selfless service to Kansas City, KMBC noted.
