(TJV NEWS) In a sweeping Sunday morning raid, the DEA led a major operation against an illegal nightclub in Colorado Springs, detaining over 100 illegal immigrants and more than a dozen active-duty U.S. military personnel, Newsweek reported.
According to Newsweek, the raid was part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking, prostitution, and violent crime linked to the underground venue. Federal agents from the DEA Rocky Mountain Division, alongside local and federal partners, descended on the club around 3:45 a.m., blocking exits and detaining fleeing patrons at gunpoint, as shown in video footage shared by the agency.
Newsweek noted that the operation resulted in the arrest of 114 illegal immigrants, who were placed on buses for processing and are likely facing deportation. Agents also seized narcotics — including pink cocaine — firearms, and found evidence of prostitution at the scene, according to reporting from The Colorado Springs Gazette cited by Newsweek.
Adding a deeper twist to the story, Newsweek reported that more than a dozen active-duty U.S. service members were among those either patronizing or working security at the nightclub. Although no formal charges have been announced yet, Denver 7 reported that the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is now probing the soldiers’ involvement.
The Colorado bust comes against a national backdrop of heightened concerns over South American gang activity, particularly from Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua (TdA), which drew national attention last year after gang-related footage from Aurora went viral. Newsweek recalled that incident, noting how it fueled former President Trump’s tough-on-immigration message during the presidential campaign.
Trump has vowed to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in U.S. history, a plan that has faced numerous legal challenges. As Newsweek pointed out, Trump tried to invoke the rarely used 1798 Alien Enemies Act to speed up deportations, but courts have thus far blocked those efforts.
DEA Rocky Mountain praised the coordinated effort between agencies, which included ICE, HSI, FBI, ATF, CBP, IRS, U.S. Marshals, and several local law enforcement units. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi also applauded the operation on social media, as Newsweek reported, recognizing the extensive multi-agency collaboration that led to Sunday’s crackdown
