Brooklyn Realtor’s Brutally Honest Take on Bushwick Landlord Goes Viral

By Mario Mancini

A Brooklyn real estate agent has gone viral for his brutally honest—and hilariously blunt—assessment of a Bushwick landlord during a recent apartment tour.

“Frank is a s–ty-ass landlord,” realtor Theo Eastwind declared to a group of prospective tenants viewing a two-bedroom unit on Willoughby Avenue, as captured in a video that has since taken the internet by storm.

The clip, originally shared with the popular New Yorkers Instagram account, has been viewed nearly 3 million times on TikTok, with many praising Eastwind’s refreshing candor.

In the footage, Eastwind doesn’t hold back while leading the group through the rent-stabilized apartment, making it clear that tenants should expect a hands-off experience with the property owner.

“He does not like to do anything,” he said, pacing around an empty bedroom as potential renters examined the space.

The Capri Jet Realty agent also took aim at the landlord’s maintenance man, describing him in mob-movie terms.

“He has a goon that does, you know, some of his work … The guy’s a shinebox,” Eastwind quipped, referencing Goodfellas.

While he reassured renters that major issues—such as a broken boiler or a ceiling leak—would be addressed, he made it clear that smaller concerns would likely be ignored.

“If you’re expecting to call the landlord and say, ‘Hey, I saw a roach,’ he’s gonna be not even responding to you,” Eastwind said, gesturing to bait traps lining the walls.

Still, he insisted that the $2,240-per-month unit, which includes a backyard accessible through a bedroom window, was a great deal for the trendy neighborhood.

“Rent stabilized! Rent stabilized!” he exclaimed, clapping for emphasis. “Everybody know what that means? It means you win and the landlord loses … it’s almost as though you own the place.”

Speaking exclusively to the New York Post, Eastwind explained that his unfiltered approach is all about ensuring the right fit between renters and landlords.

“I’d rather be up front,” he said. “Some people want a really hands-on landlord, others want a really hands-off one. I make sure I place the right tenants with the right landlord—that is my job.”

While he didn’t sugarcoat his opinion of the owner, Eastwind clarified that the landlord operates within legal guidelines.

“Everyone I work with does everything required by law, but that doesn’t mean that a landlord is a good fit for everybody,” he said.

Before becoming a realtor, Eastwind spent 16 years as a subway busker, a background he credits for his entertaining and theatrical approach to apartment tours.

“I’m a performer at heart,” he told the New York Post. “I love what I do. I love people. I love New York City. And now I’ve gone viral—it’s great. It was amazing to see the outpouring of love that came from it.”

Social media users were quick to applaud his honesty.

“I respect his honesty,” one commenter wrote. “And rent stabilized is the selling point.”

“I seriously wish all realtors were like this,” added another.
