In a chilling new development surrounding internet personality Andrew Tate, his ex-girlfriend Bri Stern has filed a civil lawsuit accusing him of brutal physical abuse, sexual assault, and repeated threats to rape and kill her. According to a report on Thursday in The New York Post, Stern has come forward with disturbing details about her relationship with Tate, revealing what she describes as a pattern of coercive control, violence, and psychological terror.
Stern, who first met Tate in the summer of 2024, took to Instagram on Thursday to publicly share her account of the abuse she allegedly endured during their time together. Her lengthy statement included direct quotes from messages she claims Tate sent, as well as descriptions of a recent violent encounter at the Beverly Hills Hotel that ultimately led her to break off all contact and pursue legal action.
“He has told me on many occasions before that if I crossed him, he would ruin my life, rape me, or kill me,” Stern wrote, according to the report in The New York Post. She went on to describe a message Tate allegedly sent her just days ago: “If you ever betray me, you will regret it.”
The most harrowing incident described by Stern reportedly occurred on March 11, 2025, in a suite at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She alleges that while they were engaged in sex, Tate—38 years old and a self-proclaimed misogynist—began violently choking her without consent. When she resisted, he allegedly escalated the assault by punching her in the head repeatedly until the encounter ended.
“The last words he said to me before I left the hotel were: ‘Shut the f–k up, b—h. You will never backtalk me. You are my property,’” Stern wrote in her Instagram post, published in full by The New York Post. “I finally recognized that someone who truly loved me wouldn’t say those things to me or hurt me repeatedly the way he did.”
Following the incident, Stern says she documented bruises on her face with photographs and reported the assault to Beverly Hills police. That report coincides with her filing of a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court this week, accusing Tate of sexual assault and battery. The suit also seeks a restraining order to bar him from any future contact.
Stern is represented by prominent attorney Tony Buzbee, who issued a statement underscoring the seriousness of the claims. “The facts alleged in the lawsuit filed today are extremely disturbing,” Buzbee said, as quoted in The New York Post report.
The lawsuit arrives at a time when Andrew Tate is already facing serious legal trouble in Europe. He is currently under indictment in Romania, where authorities allege he and his brother, Tristan Tate, operated a human trafficking ring involving the exploitation of women for sex work. That ongoing case has garnered international attention, further magnifying the significance of Stern’s new accusations.
In addition to the physical assault allegations, The New York Post reported that Stern has released a series of text messages she claims Tate sent her. The content of these messages is violent, degrading, and explicitly threatening. In one exchange, he allegedly wrote, “You need to be hit… you deserve it,” and in another: “I want to beat the fk out of you… you will give me a child this year, b*h.”
When Stern responded by pleading, “I don’t like it,” and asking why he was hurting her, Tate allegedly replied, “What’s the point in having you if I don’t beat you and impregnate you… you should be thankful.”
These messages, paired with Stern’s testimony and photographic evidence of bruises, form the backbone of a lawsuit that could open a new front in the growing legal scrutiny facing Tate—who has built a global online following promoting hyper-masculine dominance, anti-feminism, and patriarchal control over women.
While Tate has yet to issue a public statement in response to Stern’s lawsuit, The New York Post report noted that efforts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
Two days after the violent encounter she says occurred in a Beverly Hills hotel room on March 11, Stern sought medical attention at a New York City hospital. According to the information provided in The New York Post report, she was officially diagnosed as “post-concussive,” a condition typically resulting from traumatic brain injury. Only after Tate had reportedly left the United States and traveled to Romania—where he is under indictment for unrelated human trafficking charges—did Stern feel safe enough to file a police report and move forward with legal action.
“I am an emotional wreck and am constantly looking over my shoulder,” Stern wrote in a powerful public statement. “I’m not the person I was before. Coming out about this is really terrifying in all aspects.”
The case, as first reported by The New York Post, centers around Stern’s accusations that Andrew Tate—who first rose to prominence as a professional kickboxer before becoming an infamous online provocateur—violently choked her during sex and punched her in the head, leaving her with visible bruising. She has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging sexual assault and battery, and is seeking a restraining order to prevent further contact.
Stern’s account, however, is not just one of trauma but also betrayal. She described her initial relationship with Tate as deeply intimate and emotionally meaningful. The two first connected over their shared interest in cryptocurrency, she said, and what followed was a relationship marked by romantic promises, emotional dependence, and, ultimately, control.
“He wanted me to have his children and always told me we would be together forever,” Stern recalled, according to The New York Post. “Andrew told me he loved me every day, and I was very much in love with him. He was my best friend, and I stood by him unwaveringly.”
Now, she says, that bond has been shattered by a harrowing realization of who he truly is behind the bravado and online persona.
In response to the lawsuit and media coverage, Tate has denied all allegations through his legal team. In a statement to TMZ, also cited by The New York Post, his attorneys vigorously pushed back against Stern’s claims, labeling them as fabrications intended to vilify him in the public eye.
“Andrew Tate vehemently rejects this outrageous allegation and will relentlessly pursue legal action against anyone involved in spreading this blatant falsehood,” his lawyers said.
A central issue in the case is a series of graphic and abusive text messages Stern claims Tate sent her, including threats of violence, coercion, and sexual domination. The report in The New York Post indicated that Tate’s legal team has sought to discredit the authenticity of those messages, questioning their provenance and raising the specter of AI manipulation.
“As for the supposed text messages—no verification, no metadata, nothing,” the statement reads. “In an era where AI can generate entire conversations in seconds, it’s impressive how quickly unverified screenshots become ‘evidence’ when they suit the narrative.”
The legal team went further, accusing the media of turning the Tate brothers into what they described as “quintessential villains in media fabrication.” While these claims may generate “convenient clickbait,” the statement concluded, “they won’t withstand scrutiny in reality—or in a courtroom.”
Still, Stern’s claims come at a time when Tate is already under significant international legal pressure. He and his brother Tristan face serious charges in Romania related to human trafficking, rape, and organized crime. That case has been marked by months of high-profile pretrial detentions, appeals, and public outbursts by Tate against what he calls a politically motivated campaign to silence him.
For Stern, however, the story is less about global headlines and more about reclaiming her own agency in the face of what she describes as trauma and manipulation. “This wasn’t just about a bad relationship or internet drama,” she wrote. “This was the reality of my life—and I can’t stay silent anymore.”
