Tel Aviv Gears Up for the 2025 Tel Aviv Marathon – A Celebration of Resilience & Unity

The biggest sports event of the year is back in Tel Aviv with over 45,000 participants, including hundreds of international runners from around the world, the Tel Aviv marathon has established itself as a premier destination for elite and amateur runners alike.

This year, 12 elite runners from Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, and other countries will compete, aiming to break the existing Tel Aviv Marathon record of 02:10:11, set in 2023 by Kenyan runner Mibei Dominic Kipngeno.

This year, we run with a heavy heart for those still in captivity and in memory of our fallen heroes. We salute our soldiers, the wounded, and their families, who inspire us all. I invite everyone to join and look forward to seeing all of our hostages return home soon.”

The Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality is set to host the annual Tel Aviv Marathon, Israel’s largest and most anticipated sporting event, returning in full force on Friday, February 28, 2025. This year’s marathon embraces the themes of Resilience and Unity, welcoming thousands of local and international runners to experience the vibrant energy of Tel Aviv.

An Unmatched Urban Running Experience

The marathon’s scenic routes will take runners through Tel Aviv’s bustling streets, iconic coastline, and historic landmarks, offering an unforgettable urban running experience.

Participants can choose from 7 race categories, including the 42.195 km marathon, half marathon (21 km), 10 km, 5 km, a dedicated 3 km “Triumph of the Spirit” route, and a handcycle race for athletes with disabilities. Additionally, a Mini Marathon for children will be held on February 26, including a special 400-meter race for children with special needs.

A Commitment to Sustainability

As part of efforts to make the marathon one of the greenest in the world, organizers have introduced the “With Love for the Environment” sustainability initiative for the third consecutive year, following previous successful editions. To achieve this goal, water stations along the course will serve water in biodegradable cups, which will be collected and sent to a compost facility, reducing plastic bottle waste by 75%. Additionally, all food vendors will use only biodegradable utensils. The “Pay It Forward” project will encourage runners to donate unused sportswear to those in need, with marathon staff ensuring that the clothing is cleaned, folded, and delivered to charities.

A Community-Focused Marathon

The 2025 marathon places a strong emphasis on community engagement, with cheering stations along the course supported by 7,000 students, teachers, and parents from 25 schools across Tel Aviv-Yafo. Additionally, a dedicated hospitality zone will be set up to provide a relaxing space for runners before and after their race.

Marathon Expo and Entertainment

The Marathon Village at Ganey Yehosha (HaYarkon Park) will feature an exciting Expo with top sports brands, DJ performances, interactive marketing zones, and live music stations along the racecourse. Special discounts will also be available to runners at over 100 local businesses, redeemable upon presenting their marathon medal.
