Elon Musk’s Love for DOGE Gets a Nod from Palantir CEO Alex Karp: ‘Very Good’ for Business”

When President Donald Trump took office two and a half weeks ago, he signed an executive order establishing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) headed by Tesla and Twitter owner, Elon Musk. Since the establishment of DOGE, officials have claimed to have cut around $1 billion per day, according to a recent Fox Business report.
When Trump announced the creation of DOGE this past November, he said that Elon and Vivek Ramaswamy, who recently left DOGE, mission would be that “Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement. I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans.” In the first weeks since DOGE was created, there has been a focus on getting rid of government Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, canceling unnecessary federal contractors, and even suspending foreign aid to assess spending trends.
Initially, both Republicans and Democrats supported the DOGE effort, however, many Democrats now are slamming actions taken by Musk. The first Democrat to join the DOGE congressional committee, Congressman Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), said in a statement reevaluating his support for DOGE as reported by Punchball News, “I need to see one of my Republican colleagues in the caucus explain the point of the caucus, because it seems that Elon doesn’t need them, because it seems what Elon is doing is destroying the separation of powers. And I don’t think the DOGE caucus at this moment really has a purpose. … Whether I stay in the caucus, I think is questionable. I don’t need to stay in a caucus that’s irrelevant.”
However, some companies who have government contracts including Palantir which could be affected by the spending cuts, have come out in support of the new efforts by DOGE. CEO and founder Alex Karp said as reported by Business Insider, “We love disruption, and whatever is good for America will be good for Americans and very good for Palantir. Disruption, at the end of the day, exposes things that aren’t working. There will be ups and downs. There’s a revolution. Some people are going to get their heads cut off. We’re expecting to see really unexpected things and to win.” Palantir is a software company that can analyze data for the government.
This past December, they signed a $400 million providing software to the Army for four years. Despite an earnings report on Monday showing a 45 percent year-over-year increase to $343 million in investments with the government, the company is publicly supporting spending cut efforts by DOGE. The chief technology officer in Palantir, Shyam Sankar, also recently gave his support to Musk, “DOGE is going to bring meritocracy and transparency to government, and that’s exactly what our commercial business is.” He cited “a lack of accountability in government” as a major reason for the government’s fiscal irresponsibility.
DOGE has in recent days been more highlighted in the news and political arena, as DOGE officials investigate funding in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) which is supposed to give disaster relief and socioeconomic development aid to foreign countries.
DOGE officials have found abuses in the spending, finding millions of dollars being funneled to Hamas-aligned organizations, millions to drag shows in Africa, and millions to increase diversity in many “tolerant” Middle Eastern countries. Democrats have been outraged at the efforts with Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), saying to the public, “An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government. DOGE is not a real government agency. DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions.” Some however have pushed back saying that USAID being run by unelected bureaucrats, makes funding such causes undemocratic.
