Caroline Glick Returns to Netanyahu’s Office as International Affairs Adviser
Edited by: Fern Sidman
Prominent Israeli-American columnist and Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) senior contributing editor Caroline B. Glick has rejoined the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, stepping into the role of International Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Glick’s return to the heart of Israel’s leadership comes at a time of profound challenges and pivotal decisions for the Jewish state, marking a homecoming to an office she first worked in over 25 years ago.
According to a report that appeared on The Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) website, Glick assumed her new position on Sunday, a mere three years after launching her widely viewed program, The Caroline Glick Show, which premiered on JNS TV in 2022. Throughout her tenure as a journalist and commentator, Glick has been a steadfast advocate for Israeli security and a vocal critic of policies compromising the nation’s future. Now, she is bringing that same unwavering commitment directly into the highest level of government.
“Life takes you in different directions,” Glick told JNS, reflecting on her return to Netanyahu’s inner circle. “I take it as a profound compliment that at this critical juncture in our history, Prime Minister Netanyahu has asked me to join him as he continues his historic fight to secure the future of the Jewish state and people.”
A Critical Time for Israel’s Security
Glick’s appointment comes as Israel continues its military efforts against Hamas, following the devastating October 7, 2023, terrorist attack in which the group took 251 hostages. As reported by JNS, Glick has been among the most outspoken critics of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, arguing that military pressure is the only viable strategy to secure Israel’s long-term safety and ensure the return of the hostages.
Netanyahu remains committed to the complete annihilation of Hamas and preventing Gaza from ever again posing a security threat to Israel, two of the three war objectives laid out by Jerusalem. However, as Glick noted in her statements to JNS, these goals remain unmet, and achieving them will require strategic perseverance.
Endorsing Trump’s Gaza Resettlement Plan
In her role as a political commentator for JNS, Glick has consistently supported bold and unconventional approaches to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One such idea is former President Donald Trump’s proposal to resettle some of Gaza’s residents in Egypt or Jordan—an idea she has publicly endorsed as both “brilliant” and “feasible.” Despite opposition from Egypt and Jordan, Glick believes the plan should be actively pursued, noting that Egypt previously transferred control of two islands to Saudi Arabia, demonstrating that territorial and demographic realignments in the region are possible.
As JNS reported, Glick’s embrace of Trump’s plan highlights her broader strategic vision: Israel must seize every available opportunity to reshape the Middle East in its favor, particularly in the aftermath of the ongoing war.
A Transforming Middle East
Looking ahead, Glick sees 2025 as a year of historic opportunities for Israel. Speaking to JNS, she emphasized that the war has altered the regional strategic landscape, potentially paving the way for groundbreaking developments. Among these, she pointed to the possibility of a peace deal with Saudi Arabia and an intensified effort to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
“The strategic landscape of the Middle East has been transformed by Israel’s accomplishments in the war,” Glick told JNS, stressing that this shift presents a unique moment to both expand Israel’s diplomatic relationships and ensure its security against existential threats, particularly from Iran. She has long advocated for a robust Israeli response to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, a stance she will undoubtedly reinforce in her new advisory role.
A Personal Transition
While Glick’s professional life is taking a dramatic turn, she acknowledged to JNS that the shift will also affect her family life. At 55, having built a career spanning journalism, political commentary, and government service, she joked that her family will have to adjust to her demanding schedule.
“My family is going to have to eat a lot of TV dinners or learn how to cook,” she humorously remarked in her JNS interview, hinting at the personal sacrifices that come with re-entering public service at such a high level.
Caroline Glick’s return to the Prime Minister’s Office represents more than just a professional homecoming; it signals the integration of a sharp strategic thinker into Netanyahu’s leadership team at a time when Israel faces its most significant military and diplomatic challenges. As JNS has extensively documented, Glick has built a reputation for incisive analysis and an unyielding commitment to Israel’s security. Now, she will have the opportunity to translate her vision into policy, directly influencing the nation’s path forward.
With her deep understanding of geopolitics, her alignment with Netanyahu’s strategic goals, and her strong relationships within the American political landscape, Glick’s appointment may shape Israel’s approach to war, diplomacy, and national security in the years to come.
Who is Caroline Glick?
Born in 1969 in Houston, Texas, Caroline Glick was raised in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in political science at Columbia University in 1991. That same year, Glick immigrated to Israel, joining the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) which marked the beginning of a distinguished career in military service, government advisory roles, and journalism.
Military and Government Service
Upon enlisting in the IDF in August 1991, Glick served in the Judge Advocate General division during the First Intifada. She co-edited and contributed to the IDF-published book “Israel, the Intifada, and the Rule of Law.” Following the Oslo Accords, she was appointed as the coordinator of negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. After retiring from the military as a captain in late 1996, Glick served as an assistant foreign policy advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from 1997 to 1998. She later earned a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 2000.
Journalistic Endeavors
Glick’s journalism career is marked by significant contributions to various prominent publications. She served as the chief diplomatic correspondent for Makor Rishon, writing a weekly column in Hebrew, and held the position of deputy managing editor at The Jerusalem Post until early 2019. In the summer of 2019, she joined Israel Hayom as a senior columnist for both its Hebrew and English editions. Her writings have appeared in esteemed outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, National Review, and The Washington Times. In 2003, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Glick was embedded with the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, providing frontline reports for The Jerusalem Post and the Chicago Sun-Times, for which she received the Distinguished Civilian Service Award from the U.S. Secretary of the Army.
Political Involvement and Publications
In 2019, Glick ventured into politics by joining the Israeli political party New Right and running for a Knesset seat, though the bid was unsuccessful. She is the author of “The Israeli Solution: A One-State Plan for Peace in the Middle East” and “Shackled Warrior: Israel and the Global Jihad,” where she advocates for the annexation of the West Bank into a Jewish state. Glick also founded and edited Latma TV, a Hebrew-language political satire website, from 2009 to 2013.
Throughout her multifaceted career, Caroline Glick has established herself as a prominent voice in Israeli and American discourse, known for her unwavering commitment to Israel’s security and her critical analysis of Middle Eastern politics.
