He called on Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, leader of the Religious Zionism Party, to join him in resigning if the agreement is formalized, admitting that “the power of Otzma Yehudit is not enough in the current composition of the government to serve as leverage to prevent the deal, and our resignation alone will not stop its implementation.”

Smotrich on Monday called the developing deal with Hamas a “catastrophe” for Israel’s security, stressing that his party would not vote to approve it.

Ben-Gvir urged Smotrich to work together to convey to Netanyahu “in a clear and resolute manner that if the deal goes through, we will resign from the government.”

In a lengthy Hebrew X post on Tuesday, Ben-Gvir called the emerging deal “horrific,” describing it as involving releasing hundreds of terrorists, withdrawing the Israel Defense Forces from key areas of Gaza and returning terrorists to the Strip, effectively undoing the achievements of the war.

He argued that the deal will not secure the release of all hostages and may lead to the deaths of many Israeli civilians.

Ben-Gvir urged Netanyahu to take stronger actions against Hamas to ensure Israel’s security and prevent the deal’s implementation.

  1. Maybe no one should join the IDF in Gaza. Air Force, Navy and Mosad yes but not the army. ‘Hell no we won’t go’ should be the saying. Unless all Gazans are expelled and/or killed – nothing will be accomplished in the long run. Maybe the Israeli government may change its policy after something like this.

  2. Netanyahu is caving to Trump, Who is concerned for Israel? Survival is peripheral, presumably to retain critical influence concerning preventing the Iran nuclear deal and freedom/cooperation to attack Iran within the very limited time left to save Israel.

  4. The Israeli government of Netanyahu should fall flat on its face if this so-called deal is passed and implemented. Netanyahu is a capitulator and does not care about the Jewish citizens of Israel. He is not a true leader by any sense of the word. If this so-called deal goes through, then Israel loses the war as always. Israel always stops their wars in the middle never finishing any war and always being a laughing stock of the world. This is the reason that Israel is not a respected country. Nobody takes Israel seriously. Israel must completely destroy the enemy or close down the country for good. The whole Gaza Strip must be taken back by Israel and rebuilt only controlled by Israel. The Oslo Accords must be annulled and every inch of land that was given away to the enemy must be taken back immediately.
