AOC Calls Out Congressional Insider Trading: “You Run the Casino!”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) didn’t hold back during her appearance on The Weekly Show Podcast with Jon Stewart, slamming Democratic and Republican lawmakers for hypocrisy and rampant insider trading.
The far-left NYC congresswoman, made a rare valid point, instead of the usual partisan political talking points, we are accustomed to.
“There need to be Democrats who walk the walk and talk the talk,” AOC stated, adding that hypocrisy is exploited to foster public cynicism.

She specifically highlighted insider trading in Congress, exclaiming, “People think everyday folks are stupid. Do you really think they don’t see this?” Stewart echoed her frustration, describing how lawmakers use committee knowledge to profit: “You’re regulating the market you’re trading on. You run the casino!”
The discussion also touched on high-profile examples, including Nancy Pelosi’s stock trades and Sen. Markwayne Mullin’s controversial investments. Ocasio-Cortez didn’t mince words: “We’re supposed to act like money only corrupts Republicans? Give me a break!”
With insider trading in Congress gaining bipartisan scrutiny, calls for reform continue to grow.
