Analysis: A Sobering Look at the List of Terrorists Set for Release

I reviewed the entire list of 734 terrorists scheduled for release under the deal from Israeli prisons. I went name by name, terrorist by terrorist. It is a heartbreaking, lengthy list, drenched in the blood of Israeli citizens and soldiers. Here is a portion of the list I feel compelled to share.
Ahmad Barghouti: A close aide and cousin of Marwan Barghouti, Ahmad was sentenced to 13 life terms for leading a “murder machine” responsible for attacks that killed 12 Israelis. Among these was the 2002 suicide bombing at the Seafood Market restaurant in Tel Aviv.
Barghouti killed five people, one of them a pacifist Greek monk whom he tortured.

Wael Qasem, Wassam Abbasi, and Mohammad Oudeh: Members of Hamas’ “Silwan Cell,” responsible for attacks that claimed 35 Israeli lives. Their crimes include the Moment Café bombing in Jerusalem, killing 11, the Spitfire Club bombing in Rishon Lezion, killing 15, and the cafeteria bombing at Hebrew University, killing 9.
Wael Qassam and Wassam Abbasi killed 35 Israelis. They are part of the 1,900 terrorists Israel will release in return for a few of the hostages (women and elderly only).

Zakaria Zubeidi: Former commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades in Jenin, Zubeidi orchestrated multiple attacks, including the Beit She’an Likud branch bombing that killed six. He was also one of the infamous Gilboa Prison escapees in 2021. Despite his record, Zubeidi will not be exiled and is slated for release back to the West Bank.’
3) Zakaria Zubeidi, former Jenin commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. Responsible for the 2002 terror attack in Beit Shean in which 6 were murdered. In 2019 he was charged with shooting attacks on civilian buses.

Abdallah Sharabati, Majdi Zaatari, and Samer Alatrash: This trio orchestrated a series of bus bombings in Jerusalem in 2003, including attacks on buses 2 and 14, killing 23 people, including seven children, and the suicide bombing on bus 6 in the French Hill, killing seven and injuring 20. They were planning additional attacks when captured.
Mohammad Amoudi: Orchestrated the 2006 Tel Aviv shawarma stand bombing, which killed 11 and injured dozens.
Mohammad Abu Warda: Responsible for the 1996 suicide bombings on Jerusalem’s bus line 18, which killed 45 Israelis. He is serving 48 life sentences.
11) Ahmad Obeid, was sentenced to seven life terms for his role in sending out the suicide bomber responsible for the 2004 Café Hillel terror attack in Jerusalem.

Mahmoud Atallah: Convicted of murdering a Palestinian woman, Atallah was also implicated in the Gilboa Prison scandal involving the sexual exploitation of female guards. He is slated for release to the West Bank.

Nur Jaber: Responsible for the deaths of 16 Israelis, Jaber planned the 2002 Hebron Prayer Route bombing, which killed 12, including Brigade Commander Dror Weinberg, and the 2002 attack in Otniel that killed four.
Sami Jaradat: Played a key role in the 2003 Maxim restaurant bombing in Haifa, killing 21 Israelis.
Ali Sufuri: A senior Islamic Jihad operative responsible for the deaths of nine Israelis and over 100 injuries across numerous attacks, including the Hadera bus station car bombing and shootings in Hadera’s market.
Omar Al-Zaben: A senior leader of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades, Al-Zaben was sentenced to 27 life terms for attacks that killed 27 Israelis.
Omar Al-Zaben, a senior commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamxs, was responsible for numerous terror attacks that claimed the lives of 27 Israelis. He was sentenced to 27 life terms in Israeli prison.
He will be released in the hostage deal.

Ramadan Mashahreh: Involved in the 2002 Gilo neighborhood suicide bombing in Jerusalem, which killed 19 Israelis.
Shadi Amouri: One of the masterminds behind the 2002 Megiddo Junction car bombing, which killed 17 Israelis.
Here’s a few more of those “Political prisoners”:
Thabet Mardawi – murdered 21
Sa’id Al-Tubasi – murdered 21
Khalil Baraq’eh – murdered 19
And the list goes on & on & on…

Thabet Mardawi: A senior Islamic Jihad operative responsible for at least 12 attacks during the Second Intifada, including suicide bombings that killed 21 Israelis and injured close to 200. His operations included attacks at the Binyamina train station, Kibbutz Shluhot, and bus line 823 near Afula and Wadi Ara. He was captured by the IDF during Operation Defensive Shield.
The captive leader Thabet Mardawi is one of the leaders of the Islamic Jihad Movement. He participated in the Jenin epic of 2002 alongside the martyr Mahmoud Tawalbeh and their companions.

This analysis underscores the deep anguish surrounding the release of these individuals, many of whom were directly responsible for devastating attacks on civilians and soldiers alike. For many Israelis, the prospect of these individuals walking free is a painful and contentious issue that cuts to the heart of national security and collective memory.
