Floyd Mayweather Jr. Secures $100K a-Month Manhattan Penthouse at the Prestigious Baccarat Residences
Edited by: Fern Sidman
Retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., known equally for his undefeated boxing record and extravagant lifestyle, has finally secured a Manhattan residence—and it’s nothing short of spectacular. According to a recently published report in The New York Post, Mayweather is renting a luxurious duplex in the Baccarat Hotel and Residences for an eye-watering $100,000 per month, marking a record-breaking price for a Midtown rental.
The New York Post report indicated that this residence, aptly named “The Gemstone Terrace,” sprawls across 4,178 square feet and occupies the 18th and 19th floors of the prestigious building at 20 W. 53rd St. The duplex is situated just steps away from the $49.5 million Gilded Age mansion Mayweather had previously toured at 9 W. 54th St.
Mayweather’s extensive search for the perfect New York property took him to some of the city’s most exclusive addresses, including a Soho penthouse previously owned by Uber founder Travis Kalanick, which carried a monthly rental tag of $150,000. Yet, as The New York Post report revealed, it was the Baccarat’s glittering appeal and prime location that ultimately won him over.
According to the information provided in The New York Post report, Mayweather’s duplex is nothing short of a palace in the sky. The five-bedroom property is designed with opulence in mind, featuring seven marble-clad bathrooms—five full baths and two half baths. An eat-in chef’s kitchen adds a touch of functional elegance, while vast living spaces provide plenty of room for entertaining guests.
However, it’s the 3,100 square feet of private outdoor space—an expansive marble-capped terrace—that sets this property apart from even the most exclusive Manhattan penthouses. This sprawling outdoor space offers breathtaking views of the city skyline and ample opportunities for alfresco dining and relaxation.
While the luxury and grandeur of the Baccarat Hotel and Residences are undeniable, Mayweather’s choice was also guided by practicality. The report in The New York Post explained that the neighborhood’s central location offers significant advantages from a business perspective. Mayweather, already a seasoned real estate investor, holds a portfolio of over 1,000 affordable housing units alongside luxury properties scattered across the city.
This Midtown residence positions him in proximity to key business hubs and cultural landmarks, aligning with his ongoing investments and business endeavors.
As a resident of the Baccarat Hotel and Residences, Mayweather gains access to an array of world-class hotel services, as reported by The New York Post. These include a state-of-the-art gym, a luxurious indoor pool, and 24-hour concierge services.
This elite suite of amenities ensures that Mayweather will enjoy not only privacy and luxury but also convenience and comfort befitting a world champion.
An industry insider quoted by The New York Post confirmed that the $100,000 monthly rental fee represents a record for Midtown Manhattan. While sky-high rentals are not uncommon in neighborhoods like Tribeca or Soho, Midtown’s rental market has rarely seen figures of this magnitude.
Mayweather’s property hunt became something of a saga, chronicled closely by The New York Post. From penthouses to historic mansions, the boxer explored a wide array of exclusive properties before settling on the Baccarat duplex.
The deal was brokered by Ryan Garson and Brian K. Lewis of Compass, two of Manhattan’s most well-respected luxury real estate agents. However, as The New York Post reported, both brokers have declined to comment on the transaction.
Mayweather’s choice reflects not only his taste for luxury but also his growing reputation as a savvy real estate investor. According to The New York Post, his property portfolio spans affordable housing units and high-end luxury assets, making him a significant player in the real estate market.
Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s new home at the Baccarat is more than just a rental—it’s a lifestyle statement. From panoramic views and exclusive amenities to its prime Midtown location, the Gemstone Terrace represents the epitome of Manhattan luxury living.
With this dazzling penthouse secured, Mayweather has firmly planted his roots in New York City, continuing to build his legacy both inside and outside the ring. As The New York Post aptly frames it, this move is not just about finding a home—it’s about defining a standard.
Last month, The Jewish Voice reported that Mayweather was partnering with the Nakash family and Eli Gindi to purchase a stake in an iconic Miami Beach property. As reported by the Real Deal, Mayweather is buying a large share in the former Versace Mansion, now known as Villa Casa Casuarina, at 1116 Ocean Drive. The share Mayweather is acquiring is the majority stake currently owned by Eli Gindi. The purchase price has not yet been disclosed. The deal is slated to close in the first quarter of 2025. The transaction was brokered by Ayal Frist of AlphaTech Real Estate Group, and with Mayweather represented by Morris Missry of the New York-based law firm Wachtel Missry.
The iconic home belonged to the Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace, founder of the international luxury-fashion house. Versace was murdered outside this home in 1997, at age 50, by a serial killer. The mansion was one of the most photographed homes in America, and later became converted into a posh luxury boutique hotel with 24 rooms, a restaurant, spa, pool, lounge and event space.
Mayweather, now 47, retired from his boxing career in August 2017 with an undefeated record, having won 15 major world championships spanning five weight classes from super featherweight to light middleweight. He went on to fight in exhibition boxing. His fights had been the most lucrative pay-per-view attractions of all time, in any sport. He was one of the 50 highest-paid athletes of 2012 and 2013, and in both 2014 and 2015 he made the Forbes list as the highest-paid athlete in the world.
In October of this year, Mayweather Jr. paid a visit to Israel, marking his fourth trip to the country since the October 7th invasion. During his trip, Mayweather visited Belev Echad’s rehabilitation center in Kiryat Ono, Israel, to meet with and offer his support to Israeli soldiers who were wounded during the recent conflict in Gaza.
During the visit in Kiryat Ono, Mayweather expressed admiration and solidarity with the injured soldiers. “I’m happy to be here. I see so many bright faces, so many beautiful people. You guys are brave warriors. I take my hat off to everyone in here that goes on that battlefield,” he said.
Moti Fried, who accompanied Mayweather on his visit in Israel, remarked on the dedication of the boxing icon. “It’s simply unbelievable that he drops everything and comes here for the fourth time. He’s a legend in his field, and his love for Israel and the Jewish people is something truly exceptional.”
Rabbi Uriel and Shevy Vigler, founders of Belev Echad, expressed their deep appreciation for Mayweather’s visit.
“Floyd’s support and compassion mean the world to these soldiers,” said Rabbi Vigler. “His visit lifts their spirits and reminds them that people across the globe are standing with them.” Shevy Vigler added, “Floyd’s connection to our soldiers speaks volumes. His presence here brings hope and a renewed sense of strength to those who have sacrificed so much for Israel.”
Also in October Mayweather donated $100,000 to support United Hatzalah volunteers, a gesture that will fund the purchase of bulletproof vests for these courageous first responders. Mayweather’s donation comes at a critical time, as ongoing regional conflict places medical personnel and emergency responders in significant danger. His contribution provides much-needed protection for those risking their lives to save others.
Mayweather’s gift to United Hatzalah reflects his broader mission of using his wealth and influence to make a difference worldwide. By providing bulletproof vests, Mayweather’s contribution will directly enhance the safety of these volunteers, enabling them to continue their heroic work without the constant fear for their own lives.
