In a significant security operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet intelligence agency announced on November 27th the interception of a large and sophisticated weapons shipment from Iran intended for terrorist organizations in Jenin and other areas of Judea and Samaria. The seizure, detailed by a report in Israel Hayom, revealed an extensive cache of advanced weaponry aimed at facilitating mass casualty attacks.

According to the information provided in the Israel Hayom report, the operation uncovered not only an initial shipment but also an additional underground stockpile where the bulk of the arsenal had been concealed. The discovery casts a spotlight on the evolving threat posed by Iranian-backed terror networks attempting to destabilize the region.

The intercepted shipment contained a diverse array of sophisticated arms, including weapons specifically designed for high-impact, mass casualty attacks. As indicated in the report on Israel Hayom, the inventory included Claymore explosive devices, such as 40 military-grade large mines, fully equipped with rollers and detonators, alongside 33 improvised devices. Several were fitted with wireless detonation systems for remote activation.

Also discovered were rocket systems including three 107mm rockets, six RPG-7 launchers, and 24 portable RPG-18 and RPG-22 rockets, signaling the capability for long-range strikes.

Two 60mm mortar tubes and 20 matching shells, designed for indirect fire support were also discovered as was a cache of firearms including high-precision sniper rifles, including seven Hunter models, six long-barrel M16 rifles, and one M4 carbine, as was reported by Israel Hayom. The cache also included 37 handguns—comprising Glock and XD-9 models—with accompanying magazines.

Additional equipment such as tactical gear and combat systems meant to enhance operational efficiency for terrorist cells, were found as well.

The report in Israel Hayom emphasized that the scale and variety of the weapons point to a calculated effort to equip terror operatives with tools for sustained violence.

Intelligence sources cited by Israel Hayom revealed that the smuggling operation was masterminded by Iran’s Unit 4000, a division within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Intelligence Organization. The unit, under the leadership of Javad Ghaffari, specializes in covert operations designed to arm and train proxies across the Middle East.

The operation was further supported by Unit 840, a specialized Quds Force unit stationed in Syria, led by Etsar Bakri. According to the report at Israel Hayom, Unit 840’s involvement underscores the strategic depth of Iranian efforts to destabilize Israeli security through its proxy networks. These coordinated efforts are part of Iran’s broader campaign to expand its influence and escalate violence in the region.

The intercepted shipment calls attention to the increasing sophistication of Iranian arms transfers to terror groups. As Israel Hayom reported, this operation demonstrates a direct threat to Israeli and regional stability. The weapons’ advanced nature—such as wireless Claymore devices and precision sniper rifles—suggests an intention to execute large-scale, coordinated attacks capable of overwhelming security forces and endangering civilian populations.

The involvement of Iranian units specializing in logistics and covert operations also illustrates Tehran’s commitment to supplying its proxies with the means to intensify the conflict. By targeting Judea and Samaria, Israel Hayom explained, Iran seeks to broaden the geographic scope of its influence and instigate unrest within areas critical to Israel’s national security.

The seizure represents a major success for Israeli intelligence and military forces in disrupting Iranian plans. As reported by Israel Hayom, the IDF and Shin Bet have reaffirmed their commitment to monitoring and intercepting similar threats. The operation also serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance against the evolving tactics of Iranian-backed groups.

By neutralizing this shipment, Israeli forces have not only averted immediate danger but also sent a clear message to Tehran and its proxies about Israel’s determination to protect its citizens and maintain regional stability. Israel Hayom concluded that such operations are vital in countering the persistent threat posed by Iran’s destabilizing activities.
