Democrat Congressman Jared Moskowitz Condemns Anti-Semitism in Passionate Call to Action
Edited by: Fern Sidman
Democratic Congressman Jared Moskowitz has taken a bold stand against anti-Semitism within his own party and across the political spectrum, delivering a powerful speech that called for accountability and unity in combating bigotry, according to a report on the Vois Es Nais web site. Speaking at a dinner on Tuesday, the Florida representative criticized both Democrats and Republicans for failing to adequately address antisemitic sentiments, highlighting what he described as a dangerous double standard. Moskowitz’s speech has ignited discussions about the political response to rising anti-Semitism in America.

During the event, Moskowitz took aim at members of his party, condemning the silence of self-proclaimed progressives on issues affecting the Jewish community. “Progressive colleagues who’ve fought for every endangered species,” Moskowitz charged, “when it came to Jews, they were silent.” According to a report in The New York Post, he accused “dozens of members” of the Democratic Party of engaging in anti-Semitic rhetoric and behaviors, insisting that “Democrats don’t get a pass” on bigotry.
Moskowitz’s remarks were particularly focused on what he sees as an inconsistency in how Democrats address discrimination. Speaking passionately about recent incidents on college campuses, he pointed out that Jewish students wearing symbols of their faith, such as the Star of David, have been subjected to assaults. Moskowitz expressed outrage at the party’s tepid response. “Does anyone actually believe if that wasn’t a Jewish student but it was a minority student that any of this stuff would have gone past lunch on the first day?” he asked. The Vois Es Nais report underscored the importance of these remarks, which highlight the need for equitable treatment of all minority groups, including Jewish Americans.
Moskowitz drew a stark contrast between the swift advocacy shown by Democrats for other marginalized groups and the inaction when it comes to anti-Semitism. “If that was a minority student or an LGBTQ student, my party would have led the effort — and we didn’t,” he said, according to the report. His words have resonated widely, particularly among Jewish communities who feel increasingly isolated in the current political climate.
In addition to addressing his own party, Moskowitz criticized Republicans for their failure to denounce prominent figures accused of anti-Semitism. He specifically named Tucker Carlson, accusing the conservative commentator of hosting Holocaust deniers on his program. “I want to see Republicans call out Tucker Carlson when he has a Holocaust denier on his program,” Moskowitz said, adding that Democrats must also hold their own members accountable for hateful rhetoric.
Vois Es Nais reported on Moskowitz’s broader call to action, urging Jews to unite in demanding that anti-Semitism be eradicated from both sides of the aisle. “I’ve been angry, and I think the Jewish community should be angry,” he declared. His message was clear: the fight against bigotry must transcend party lines.
Moskowitz also spoke about his personal connection to the Holocaust, sharing the story of his grandmother, a survivor whose parents were killed in Auschwitz. He recounted the harrowing experiences she shared with him, describing events that seemed “unbelievable” but now feel eerily relevant. “Never did I think that we would see some of those same currents and themes,” Moskowitz said, drawing a direct line between historical antisemitism and its modern resurgence.
His speech comes on the heels of a deeply personal encounter with anti-Semitism. Vois Es Nais detailed Moskowitz’s recent revelation that he was targeted by a man carrying a manifesto filled with anti-Semitic rhetoric and his name as a target. The suspect was arrested near the congressman’s residence, underscoring the real and present danger faced by Jewish public figures.
