(TJV) In a troubling twist amid Hurricane Helene recovery efforts, volunteers in the small town of Burnsville, North Carolina, reported an alleged act of sabotage on Sunday night. Video footage circulating on social media purportedly shows an unmarked helicopter, piloted by individuals wearing military-style helmets, disrupting critical supply distribution at a United Cajun Navy relief site. According to witnesses, the volunteers had designated the area as a “no-fly, no drop” zone just hours before the incident.

@megsnbacn This eveninf st approximately 7:18 in Burnsvile NC an unmarked helicopter flew in and attempted to destroy the distrubution area that was set up by locals for locals while I was conducting a K9 Security Round. The majority of our security teams were off site re-supplying helos at the DESIGNSTED HL zone. THIS WAS NOT ONE OF OUR HELOS! This was about 45 minutes after 2 unmarked black SUVS and a side byside did a slow role at the entrance of our parking lot and left. Neither the SUVS nor the unmarked helo weee sny of ojr points of contacts. Local LE did not know about them after theh responded to the scene shortly after the helo left. It was UNMARKED and it is illegal to fly unmarked helocopters. But we know SF can and does and we know some privage contractors do (not sure the legalities on that though)…. So who were they? Why were they here? Why were they masked up? Ive done plenty of helo ops with Coast Guard helos and i know a practiced rotor wash when I see it and our pilots never masked up this way. #hurricanehelene #northcarolina #greenberet #conspirancytheory #truth #disaster #sar ♬ Explosive Phonk – VEL94EV

TikTok user @megsnbacn, who claims to have been on-site conducting a K9 security round, described the unsettling scene. She alleged that the helicopter arrived shortly after 7 p.m. and that it did not belong to any of the volunteer groups. “The majority of our security teams were off-site re-supplying helos at the DESIGNATED HL zone. THIS WAS NOT ONE OF OUR HELOS!” she wrote in her account of the event. The lack of markings on the helicopter, she emphasized, made it illegal, raising further questions about its presence.

Her full account reads:
“This evening at approximately 7:18 in Burnsville NC an unmarked helicopter flew in and attempted to destroy the distribution area that was set up by locals for locals while I was conducting a K9 Security Round. The majority of our security teams were off-site re-supplying helos at the DESIGNATED HL zone. THIS WAS NOT ONE OF OUR HELOS! This was about 45 minutes after 2 unmarked black SUVs and a side-by-side did a slow roll at the entrance of our parking lot and left. Neither the SUVs nor the unmarked helo were any of our points of contact. Local LE did not know about them after they responded to the scene shortly after the helo left. It was UNMARKED and it is illegal to fly unmarked helicopters. But we know SF can and does and we know some private contractors do (not sure the legalities on that though)…. So who were they? In addition to the alleged helicopter incident, @megsnbacn noted the presence of two unmarked SUVs that appeared at the scene about 45 minutes before the helicopter’s arrival. The SUVs performed what she described as a “slow roll” at the entrance to the distribution site’s parking lot before leaving the area. These vehicles, too, were unfamiliar to the volunteers, adding another layer of mystery to the night’s events.

Local law enforcement was reportedly unaware of any authorized operations involving the helicopter or the SUVs, as stated by the witness. They responded to the scene after the helicopter had departed but could not offer clarity on the unmarked aircraft’s identity.

The footage and reports have left many volunteers and locals speculating about the nature and motive behind the incident. Some have questioned whether the helicopter could have been linked to private contractors or special forces, given its unmarked status and the pilots’ masked appearance. However, the identity and intentions of those involved remain unconfirmed, leaving the community seeking answers during a time when relief efforts are critical.

The alleged sabotage comes as Burnsville and surrounding areas struggle to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, making the disruption of relief supplies even more alarming. With residents still reeling from the storm’s impact, the unexpected interference at the distribution site has only added to the tensions and challenges facing the recovery efforts.
