Is America Supporting Iran in It’s Fight Against Israel?

Dear Editor:

The American people overwhelmingly support Israel because of our common roots and values. The Ten Commandments anchor both legal systems.

Various administrations have blown hot and cold on backing the only reliable ally we have in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The State Department has tilted against-Israel dating back to its founding. The United Nations, which is largely funded by America is systemically antisemitic. There are 56 Islamic and only one Jewish members. Further, the Russian block always falls in line.

During the Cold War, the Soviet Union saw Israel as an American outpost in the Middle East and set out to undermine both nations through propaganda that drew on old antisemitic tropes. They said Zionism was fascist, imperialist, racist, and colonialist. They claimed Zionists were Nazis and all Jews were Zionists. They successfully injected those lies into Western academia, poisoning students with the very rhetoric we hear on campuses today.

Before 1964, only Jews were referred to as Palestinians. When the KGB created the Palestine Liberation Organization in Egypt, they gathered Arabs from throughout MENA and gave them a new identity, calling them ‘Palestinians’. They named Israel ‘Palestine’ and Arabs who live, or had lived there, ‘Palestinians’. That was the origin of Arab Palestine.

The 1993-95 Oslo Accords allowed 100,000 PLO members to enter Israel and set up a temporary administration in Areas A & B of Judea and Samaria until Israel and the PA could finalize a 2-state solution.

In 2000, the Second Intifada destroyed any good-will between the adversaries.

Barak Obama’s administration (2009-17) took a major turn away from Israel and towards Iran. He apologized to the Arabs for America’s sins at every opportunity. He brought people attached to the Muslim Brotherhood into his team. He set up the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to supposedly slow down Iran’s nuclear program. It had no safeguards, but served as a vehicle for shipping pallets of unmarked bills to the Mullahs in Iran. He made Iran great again and Iran could afford to finance the terror groups targeting Israel.

Donald Trump’s administration reversed Iran and its proxies unearned gains. He placed heavy sanctions on Iran, defunded UNRWA and closed Palestinian facilities in America. He recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital and moved the US Embassy there. He formalized Israel’s control of the Golan Heights, established the Abraham Accords and proposed “Peace to Prosperity: A Vision to Improve the Lives of the Palestinian and Israeli People”.

Joe Biden turned the clock back on Iran. He lifted the sanction, flooding the Ayatollahs with oil dollars. Iran funneled cash to Hamas, facilitating the Oct. 7, 2023 genocidal attack on Israel. The administration responded appropriately, claiming Israel-had the right to defend itself. On Oct.8, 40,000 social media sites that had been dormant sprang into action, each putting out hundreds of antisemitic misinformation postings, riling up the whole world. Universities succumbed to the left-wing, Islamist mobs.

Did America shut down the Hamas tent cities? Did Biden demand American hostages be freed immediately. No and no. Radical Islam showed its fangs and the West caved. It is an election year in America, after all, and they feared losing the Arab vote.

Kudos to Schumer & Jeffries

Dear Editor:

As a native New York City resident I have been riding the city’s subways since I was “knee high to a grasshopper” as my late mother used to say. That essentially translates into six decades of ridership. I even remember when the fare for all public transportation was five cents.

Having said this, I wanted to extend my personal thanks and to give a shout out to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer along with House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries for securing $1,000,000 through the government funding law to help make the Classon Av G train station fully accessible. This funding will be used to install elevators and other ADA-compliant amenities at the station and ensure equitable access for the Clinton Hill community. This is part of the MTA’s largest design-build bundle of accessibility upgrades awarded to date. The total package spans a construction budget of approximately $850 million, including approximately $500 million in federal investments to upgrade 13 stations across all five boroughs.

I could not be happier and I know that others who depend on the city’s rapid transit system also feel the same way. I guess the next matter that needs to be addressed is for public officials to actually do something to quell rampant crime that has gripped our subway system, but this issue deserves its own detailed letter to which I would be very glad to submit to your fine paper in the next edition. In the meantime, I and others will celebrate the fact that the G train is now fully accessible to those who need it.

Sincerely

Anti-Semitism in “The City of Brotherly Love”

Dear Editor:

I am writing in response to the recent article regarding the ADL’s civil rights complaint against the Philadelphia School District over antisemitic incidents. This complaint highlights a serious issue that has long been overlooked: the rise in antisemitic attacks targeting Jewish students within our schools.

The allegations point to a troubling environment where Jewish students face harassment and discrimination, a situation that should never be tolerated. Schools are meant to be safe spaces for all students, and any form of hatred or bigotry undermines that fundamental principle.

It is crucial that the Philadelphia School District takes immediate action to address these concerns. Implementing strict policies against antisemitism and ensuring that complaints are taken seriously is essential for protecting Jewish students and upholding the integrity of our educational institutions. The ADL’s intervention underscores the need for a proactive and decisive response to these incidents.

We must support efforts to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, can learn in an environment free from fear and prejudice. This situation calls for serious attention and action from all stakeholders involved.

Sincerely
Amos Lavorski
