Colorado’s Democratic Governor Jared Polis is ignoring the chaos his open-border policies have unleashed. Dismissing concerns as “imagination,” Polis turned a blind eye to reports of Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and illegal migrants taking over apartment buildings in Aurora. This blatant denial comes despite video evidence, police reports, and the city’s mayor confirming the gang’s control over these properties.

In a snarky response, Polis’ office accused Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky of fabricating the crisis. But the facts tell a different story. Fox Denver aired footage showing armed gang members—confirmed as Tren de Aragua—taking over an apartment complex in Aurora. These criminals were seen carrying handguns and a rifle before engaging in a shootout that left one person severely injured.
Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman stated that “several buildings” have been overtaken by these Venezuelan gangs, which likely gained a foothold in taxpayer-funded migrant housing. Denver, a sanctuary city just west of Aurora, has seen over 40,000 migrants, mostly from Venezuela, flood the area since December 2022.

Polis’ spokesperson dismissed the gang’s presence as a figment of Jurinsky’s imagination, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Aurora residents live in fear as these gangs control local apartment complexes, with witnesses describing how they’ve taken over vacant units and are now extorting and intimidating tenants.
Venezuelan gangs have “taken over” Aurora apartments with rifles & handguns, terrorizing residents just 5 minutes from where I used to live.
How is this happening in an American city?
Why is it being downplayed?

As Polis continues to push his sanctuary state agenda, making it easier for illegal migrants to access driver’s licenses, schooling, and taxpayer-funded resources, Aurora is paying the price. Instead of addressing the rising violence, Polis seems more intent on defending his leftist policies.
The question remains: How long will Polis ignore the takeover of Colorado communities by illegal migrants and gangs? The Democrats’ open-border experiment is turning into a nightmare for the very people they claim to protect.
