Observers soon discovered that the clip, released on Friday before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit with former President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, had occurred in 2017. The video shows Trump appearing to snub Netanyahu, wandering away in the middle of an exchange.

“The clip also doesn’t include the part where Netanyahu and Trump shook hands first and then towards the end when Trump was redirected back,” Yashar Ali, a journalist regularly critical of Iran, wrote on X. “But even without that, it was still odd that Trump walked away in the way that he did.”

This video, which is being posted a lot today, is from 2017.

Ali concluded: “Having said all that, given the state of politics and Trump’s relationship with Netanyahu, who knows what’s coming our way today!”

Three X accounts shared the video on Friday morning—the first being “SprinterFamily,” which posted the clip to its more than 550,000 followers, racking up more than 230,000 views at press time. The video received a “context” note that read: “Trump shook his hand both before and after this edited clip. The original has been edited to remove both these handshakes.”

Two other larger accounts that shared the video before Iran include Johnny Vedmore and a Netanyahu parody account.
