  • ‘GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADA’: MAPPING PROJECT 2023

  • An insidious map of Jewish institutions earmarked for targeting by WITHIN OUR LIFETIME (WOL) appeared on the group’s Instagram account on Nov. 15. The “map” of targets is the new iteration of a map that first appeared in April 2021, when WOL and Decolonize This Place formed a coalition with a number of organizations to harass Jewish institutions in New York City. After being posted online, it was printed and handed out at pro-Hamas rallies in NYC on Nov.10, 2023.

“We should be protesting the locations on the map every day because they are the enemies of the people!” screamed Nerdeen Kiswani, WOL group’s founder and leader, through a megaphone at the rally.

The map (now deleted) was also posted by WOL’s intersectional ally Decolonize This Place, with the threatening and genocidal comment:

“May this map serve as a call for every struggle to act in their own interest. As we do so, we uplift one another’s struggles and free Palestine from the river to the sea.”
  • Nerdeen Kiswani
  • WOL is the radical anti-Israel group responsible not only for today’s increasingly violent demonstrations in support of Hamas in New York City, but also for the violence perpetrated against Jews during anti-Israel protests in the city over the past years. Kiswani and her activists have created a toxic environment in New York where attacks on Jews have become commonplace.

Decolonize This Place is an anarchist group responsible for $100,000 of damage done to the city during their previous protests.

  • The original map was also the impetus for the infamous Boston Mapping Project, launched in June 2022 by BDS Boston. The Boston Mapping Project claims its goal is to reveal “the local entities and networks that enact devastation, so we can dismantle them.”

Both WOL and BDS Boston identified multiple Jewish institutions and companies that do business with Israel, as well as pro-Israel charities and pro-Israel philanthropists.

Beginning in 2021 in New York City, these businesses, groups and individuals became targets of WOL’s unrelenting and often violent protests intended to hound and shame these institutions into divesting from Israel.

This latest map comes at a time when the anti-Israel movement has shifted from forceful BDS initiatives to threatening, violent protests. In NYC, this has included the attempted takeover and shutdown of iconic institutions from The New York Times to Grand Central Station – all with little pushback from the police.

Since October 7, this has become the new reality – the fulfillment of what WOL calls “Resistance By Any Means Necessary,” WOL’s signature slogan and modus operandi.

  • WITHIN OUR LIFETIME’S ‘GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADA’ CAMPAIGN

  • Globalize Intifada
  • In May of 2021, WOL launched an aggressive campaign in NYC called “Globalize the Intifada.” Intifada, translated as “uprising,” is a word associated with decades of terror against Israeli citizens by Palestinian terrorists. Since 1987, more than 1,400 Israeli civilians have been killed in “intifadas.”

In 2021, WOL garnered widespread support from their intersectional allies in their project to globalize the intifada. They staged weekly protests over a four-month period that menaced the streets of New York.

Many of these protests devolved into violent confrontations with pro-Israel supporters and police. Since then, they have been the impetus for gratuitous violence against Jews in New York.

In September 2022, WOL included the antisemitic, pro-terrorism song “Odrob Odrob Tel Aviv [Strike A Blow At Tel Aviv]” as part of their “Rally Toolkit.” The Arabic-language song celebrates rocket attacks against Israel from Gaza.

Part of the lyrics are: “Oh you settler, with your sidelocks, in your shelter you cower with fear.” Other lyrics say: “Oh Fajr missile, explode in the Knesset [Israeli parliament] and the army base. Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar [God is the greatest, God is the greatest] terrorize Tel Aviv.”

  • WHO IS BEHIND WITHIN OUR LIFETIME?

  • Nerdeen Kiswani, leader of WOL, regularly calls for the death of Zionists, Israel’s destruction and the hounding of Jewish institutions.

At one WOL rally, Kiswani pointedly said:

“We need allies who are gonna help us achieve a victory, not allies who are going to tell us to be non-violent!”

At another rally, Kiswani told the crowd:

“I hope that a pop-pop is the last noise that some Zionists hear in their lifetime!”

  • DECOLONIZE THIS PLACE

  • Decolonize This Place calls itself “an action-oriented movement and decolonial formation in New York City and beyond” that demands the “abolition of prisons and police, bosses and borders.”

Amin Husain, a co-founder of Decolonize This Place, is an adjunct professor at the Pratt Institute, New York University and the New School for Social Research. Husain claims to have participated in the First Intifada in Israel and personally visited a leader of the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He has also expressed support for the terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
