Former Black Panther Charles Barron Blames Israel for Hamas Attack at NYC Council Meeting

Edited by:  TJVNews.com

It appears that the war launched against Israel by the Hamas terror organization has spilled over into the New York City council. According to a report that appeared in the New York Post on Thursday,  a one-time member of the militant Black Panther Party, Brooklyn Councilman Charles Barron launched a vehemently anti-Israel diatribe at a council meeting Thursday, blaming the Jewish state for the Hamas terror attack that left more than 1,400 dead, as was reported by the New York Post.

Identifying as “1,000% pro-Palestine,” Barron declared that, “This is not an unprovoked war,”  used the oft repeated phrase,“Free Palestine,” according to the Post report.

Barron continued his malevolent assault on Israel by saying, “Since 75 years, the Balfour declaration, they’ve killed Palestinians to take their land,” and referred to the 1917 statement from the British government supporting a Jewish homeland, which is often cited as one of the first major steps in the creation of Israel.

The Post report indicated that he added that, “Their children, their babies were killed to establish the state of Israel. In 2014, 1,500 Palestinians killed, 509 of them children. Heard nothing from any of you.”

“A Palestinian baby’s life is just as valuable as an Israeli baby’s life. So, I say, free Palestine, ” Barron added for good measure.

Representing the East New York section of Brooklyn for more than twenty years along with his wife, Inez, Barron will be leaving the council at the end of the years after losing the Democratic party in June, the Post report said.

Barron, along with his wife Inez Barron, has represented East New York for more than two decades. He lost the Democratic primary in June and is set to exit the council at the end of the year.

During the past two decades, Barron has achieved notoriety for his virulent stances against Israel. He even drew parallels between Nazi imposed Jewish ghettoes in Europe during World War II with the present conditions that Palestinians live under Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip. These comments came after a visit to Gaza in 2009, according an Anti-Defamation League report detailing his many controversies, as was reported by the Post.

Barron once said that founding father, Thomas Jefferson, was a pedophile and rapist for his relationship with slave Sally Hemings, the Post reported. He also expressed a desire to slap white people “for my mental health,” and once made a reference to his “heroes” who happen to be Robert Mugabi and Muammar Gaddafi. Both were radicalized leaders and “strong men” who achieved notoriety for their crimes against humanity and outright racism, according to the Post report.

Barron’s rants against Israel were not limited to the city council chamber, however. The Post report indicated that on Wednesday, during a pro-Palestinian rally at CUNY’s Graduate Center in Manhattan , the pugnacious Barron made more mendacious claims as he said that Israelis are “European converts to Judaism” who had no claim to their ancestral homeland.

“For 75 years they have taken Palestinian land and been trying to justify it saying they were the Jews of the Bible and this is their promised land,” Barron said, as was noted in the Post report. “The Jews of the Bible were black. These are European converts to Judaism who stole Palestinian land. It is not their promised land.”

Modern Israel was founded in 1948 to serve as a homeland for all people of the Jewish faith, regardless of their ethnic background, the Post said.

Prior to Barron spewing forth his virulent anti-Semitic rants, Councilwoman Shahana Hanif said the US government had “fanned the flames of war” and opened New Yorkers up to the dangers of hate crimes.

“Every corner of this city is in pain. Every corner is grieving in some way. As New York City elected officials, it is incumbent upon us to protect our constituents from the rising wave of hate crimes across this country,” she said, according to the Post.

A spokesperson for the NYC council told The Post “Member Barron’s comments are his own” and that “Speaker Adams made clear that she unequivocally condemns violence against all civilians.”

Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy said Barron had “no grasp of history.”The Post report said that he added, “This is dangerous and ignorant rhetoric from a soon to be former councilmember. As we have repeatedly said, every innocent life lost is a tragedy.”
