(TJV) Justice Department (DOJ) prosecutors are seeking a 120-day jail sentence for conservative host Owen Shroyer, a move that has sparked concerns about free speech infringement.

The DOJ’s primary basis for this request stems from Shroyer’s comments regarding the 2020 presidential election.
The DOJ document highlights that “in the months leading up to January 6, Shroyer disseminated election disinformation along with inflammatory language to potentially hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of viewers.”
Additionally, prosecutors assert that Shroyer played a role in the events of January 6, which they argue is grounds for a 120-day incarceration, 12 months of supervised release, 60 hours of community service, and a $500 restitution.
The document also references Shroyer’s presence at the Capitol riots on January 6, but the DOJ is stressing Shroyer encouraged his listeners to show to to the Jan 6th protest.
Conservative commentator Alex Jones, Infowars owner, and Shroyer’s employer contends that the prosecution’s case is politically motivated. He emphasizes that the document mentions Shroyer’s remarks about the election and his criticisms of President Joe Biden.
Jones argues, “They don’t want to just censor you, folks. They want to put you in prison. Forgive them, Father. They know not what they do… They’re seeking prison time for a man who did nothing wrong and was with me, attempting to prevent individuals from heading to the Capitol because he maintains his belief that the election was stolen. Well, that’s his right.”
