Fired Far Left Extremist Professor Who Threatened NY Post Reporter might Get Only a Slap on Wrist
Jared Evan
The fired, uber-woke, pro-abortion extremist college professor, Shellyne Rodriguez, notorious for her menacing encounter with a NY Post reporter, may be on the brink of striking a plea deal with Bronx prosecutors.
This potential resolution emerged during a session at the Bronx Criminal Court, where Rodriguez, 46, made an appearance, flanked by a sizeable group of supporters who formed a protective shield against news photographers and journalists. As tension hung in the air, court officers stood vigilantly at the ready.
The proceedings took a twist when Bronx Criminal Court Judge Matthew Bondy alluded to the possibility of a “possible disposition” in the case. The charges against Rodriguez stem from a disturbing incident that occurred on May 23, wherein she allegedly assaulted Reuven Fenton, a reporter from The Post, leading to accusations of harassment and menacing.
Although the specifics of the prospective plea deal were not divulged during the court session, Judge Bondy hinted at the presence of a letter from Bronx Community Solutions. This local initiative offers a variety of alternatives to incarceration, including counseling and community service, as a means of addressing the underlying issues that contribute to criminal behavior.
“I also have a supplemental certificate of compliance and notice of readiness from Aug. 13, 2023,” Judge Bondy revealed. “The parties are requesting extra time for a possible disposition?”
Both the Bronx Assistant District Attorney, Timothy Lynch, and Rodriguez’s defense attorney acknowledged this request, leading Judge Bondy to schedule the next court date for October 2, where the potential deal could be discussed in further detail.
Judge Bondy extended the orders of protection that prohibit Rodriguez from approaching or contacting Reuven Fenton.
However, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office issued a statement later that day, clarifying that no formal plea offer had been presented to Rodriguez or her legal representation. The office indicated that they are actively reviewing information provided by the defense and continuing their investigative efforts while keeping the victim informed about any developments in the case.
The spotlight initially fell on Rodriguez when a video surfaced, capturing a heated confrontation between her and a group of students who had set up an anti-abortion display at a CUNY school on May 2. In the footage, Rodriguez’s voice crackled with intensity as she berated the students, proclaiming, “You’re not educating s–t. This is f—ing propaganda… What are you going to do, like anti-trans next?”
“The quality of education at CUNY is so low, a deranged, functionally illiterate, far left, street agitating Marxist, like Rodgriguez can easily land a job, university big wigs wonder why enrollment it collapsing? Between the antisemitism and the unhinged mentally unstable professors attacking anyone who disagrees with them, why would any serious student want to go to CUNY?”, an alumni of Brooklyn College told TJV.
The arrest occurred May 23 when a NY Post reporter approached Rodriguez at her Bronx apartment to gather her perspective on her unhinged explosion against peaceful pro-life students.
Abruptly, Rodriguez lunged at the reporter, brandishing a menacing machete that she positioned perilously close to Reuven Fenton’s throat. Her voice dripped with aggression as she warned, “Get the f–k away from my door or I’m gonna chop you up with this machete!” A subsequent retreat by Rodriguez left both Fenton and a Post photographer dumbfounded.
As if from a scene in a thriller, Rodriguez then pursued the two down the street, machete in hand. The shocking encounter was captured on video as Rodriguez yelled, “If I see you on this block one more f–ing time, you’re gonna…” Her threat trailed off, swallowed by the tumultuous atmosphere.
Within hours of this alarming incident, Hunter College, where Rodriguez had been employed as an adjunct professor, issued a stern statement condemning her actions and promptly terminated her employment.
Amidst the legal proceedings, it came to light that Rodriguez is also the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against the NYPD, stemming from her arrest during a June 2020 BLM riot.
