(TJV) In a dramatic turn of events, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a chilling warning to Russia, stating that “war” was looming on the horizon after three Ukrainian drones were shot down over Moscow. His remarks came during a visit to the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk, where he asserted that the conflict was gradually returning to Russia’s territory, targeting its symbolic centers and military bases, and he considered it a natural and just progression.

“Gradually, the war is returning to the territory of Russia — to its symbolic centers and military bases, and this is an inevitable, natural and absolutely fair process,” Zelensky asserted, while also emphasizing that Ukraine’s strength was growing. Nevertheless, he cautioned the nation to be prepared for potential attacks on its energy infrastructure during the upcoming winter. He pointed out that, similar to the previous year, Russian terrorists could still target Ukraine’s energy sector and critical facilities, necessitating preparations for “all possible scenarios.”

The warning came in the aftermath of the latest drone attacks that targeted Moscow. The Russian defense ministry reported that three Ukrainian drones were brought down over the city, leading to damage to two office towers and a temporary closure of an international airport. The attack struck at the heart of the Moskva-Citi business district, located several miles from the Kremlin, and caused concern about Russia’s vulnerability to such assaults.

Moreover, Moscow claimed that its forces had successfully thwarted a Ukrainian attempt to attack Russia-annexed Crimea using 25 drones overnight. Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, has been under increased attacks from Kyiv throughout Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine, and these latest developments raised further tensions in the region.

Following the drone strike on Moscow, Dmitry Medvedev, a former Russian president and close ally of Vladimir Putin, responded with an ominous warning. Medvedev declared that there was “simply no other way out” for Kyiv, and he urged the Ukrainian capital to pray to Russia’s warriors that they would prevent a global nuclear conflict from erupting.

“Our Armed Forces, repelling the counteroffensive of the collective enemy, protect the citizens of Russia and our land,” stated Medvedev. He emphasized that beyond safeguarding Russia’s interests, their military’s actions also had global ramifications, as they prevent the outbreak of a potential world conflict.

The former Russian president alluded to a presidential decree from June 2, 2020, which established the rules governing the use of nuclear weapons. Medvedev cautioned that if Ukraine, with the support of NATO, were to successfully seize part of Russian territory, it would compel Russia to resort to the use of nuclear weapons in response.

Notably, Medvedev made a mention of the Kremlin’s latest weapon, the Poseidon drone, a high-speed underwater kamikaze nuclear device that is still under development. He indicated that this formidable weapon, designed to cause significant damage, had the potential to sink entire countries, including Britain, under a giant tsunami.

“Poseidon unmanned aerial vehicle joins the congratulations [for Navy Day] and recommends that the enemies of our country pray for the health of all Russian sailors,” Medvedev said, alluding to the potential destructive power of this advanced weapon.

The escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine have added to the complexity and instability in the region. Both countries have engaged in military actions and threats, raising concerns about the potential for further escalation and the potential for catastrophic consequences.

As the world watches with apprehension, the international community calls for restraint and dialogue to avert a full-scale conflict that could have dire implications for global peace and security. Diplomatic efforts remain crucial in finding a resolution to the ongoing crisis and de-escalating the tensions between the two nations. The eyes of the world are on how the situation unfolds in the coming days and weeks, hoping for a peaceful resolution to this precarious situation.
