(Becker News) Special Counsel Jack Smith is set to indict former President Donald J. Trump over his alleged role in the January 6 riots “as early as tomorrow,” according to a new report by CBS News.
“If there’s going to be an indictment here in Washington D.C. on the Special Counsel’s January 6th investigation, it could come as early as tomorrow, 1:00 PM Eastern Time, when the grand jury is here in the courthouse,” CBS reported.
“The January 6th grand jury tends to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” the report added. “The magistrate judge tends to sit at 1:00 PM Eastern time to hear his or her caseload. That’s the soonest it could happen, but there’s certainly no date on the calendar. There’s no date certain. There’s no indictment that is certain. All we could say is the target letter that Trump acknowledged and announced and that we have confirmed is an indication the federal prosecution is likely, if not imminent. You want to measure this by days and weeks, not by months and years.”
The Trump indictment, if Special Counsel Jack Smith chooses to charge the former president this week, would come at a time of mounting troubles for President Joe Biden, who is facing escalating scrutiny over his ties to Hunter Biden’s illicit business deals.
Hunter Biden’s former best friend and business partner, Devon Archer, is expected to testify before Congress this week, revealing that Hunter would include his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, in meetings with his overseas business partners using speakerphone.
Archer is scheduled to share instances where Joe Biden was either physically present or connected via speakerphone while Hunter introduced him to foreign business partners and potential investors, New York Post reporter Miranda Devine reported late Sunday.
Archer’s testimony would thus shed light on the relationship between Joe Biden and his son’s business dealings and the involvement of foreign partners.
Amidst this scenario where President Biden could be credibly accused of involvement in an international bribery ring could come yet another indictment of his chief 2024 rival Donald Trump by the weaponized Department of Justice.
The Department of Justice’s corrupt indictment against the presidential candidate would be the ultimate in election interference. It presents more of a threat to democracy than January 6 itself ever did.
