Car owners in New York now have the opportunity to proudly display their connection to specific regions within the Empire State. The New York Post reported that the Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany introduced a fresh lineup of personalized license plates on Monday, showcasing 10 distinct areas of the state. This update replaces the current plates, which attempt to encompass various attractions from Niagara Falls to Montauk in a single design.
The new license plates offer a unique representation of each region. The Post reported that for instance, the New York City plate depicts a captivating view of Lower Manhattan with the iconic Statue of Liberty in the foreground. Residents of other locales can choose to exhibit scenes that symbolize the beauty of the Adirondack Mountains or the charm of the Hudson Valley.
In addition to the region-themed plates, there are also options featuring logos of popular sports teams, fraternities and sororities, professional organizations, and military affiliations, catering to the diverse interests of New Yorkers, the Post said.
However, it is important for drivers who wish to order the new license plates to note that the state still maintains its prohibition on offensive or indecent vanity plates. In the previous year, the authorities rejected over 1,800 requests for inappropriate vanity plates, including examples such as BNGBUS, TOXXICAF, and PHATNUTS.
