In a Miami courtroom on Tuesday, Donald Trump became the first former president to face a judge on federal charges as he pleaded not guilty to dozens of felony counts accusing him of hoarding classified documents and refusing government demands to give them back.
The history-making court date, centered on charges that Trump mishandled government secrets that as commander-in-chief he was entrusted to protect, kickstarts a legal process that will unfold at the height of the 2024 presidential campaign and carry profound consequences not only for his political future but also for his own personal liberty, the AP reported.
In reality, whether one likes Trump or abhors him, this man is a victim of the machinations of the insidious deep state that is hell bent on ensuring that he never return to the White House or any position of power on a governmental level.
In order to keep a monopoly on the future rein of Democratic party presidents in the future, the deep state which is operated by the woke, progressive mob, has employed fascistic modalities. Of course, when queried on this, they will tell you that they are on the front lines battling the pernicious scourge of fascism. Yes, there is a lot of hypocritical behavior going on here and it is not stopping at any time soon.
Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz is right on the money in his perspective on the Trump indictment. Offering his legal insight, Fox News reported that he said that Special Counsel Jack Smith had only one job when he was assigned to the case: “Get Trump.”
The 37-count indictment was released Friday and included counts of willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice and false statements. Fox News reported that Smith addressed the historic indictment of a former president by explaining that there is “one set of laws” in the country and they “apply to everyone.”
“Applying those laws, collecting facts, that’s what determines the outcome of an investigation, nothing more, nothing less,” he said. Fox News reported that Dershowitz argued that Smith was wrong when he said there is only one set of laws for the country.
“He was assigned only one job – to get Trump,” he said on “Sunday Morning Futures.” “If you put aside all your resources and do what Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson warned about 80 years ago – where he said it’s a question of picking the man and then searching the law books or putting investigators to work to pin some offense on him – that’s what they did.”
Whether we agree or not, the one thing that should grab our attention are the implications that this indictment has for all of us. When Trump says that the powers that be are not only going after him, but they are going after all of us, this should give us pause. After reflecting on this, we can only surmise that if this indictment result in a jail term for Trump, what will happen in the future if any of us voice opinions or express disagreements with the fascistic deep state?
Will they try and pin a crime on us? Will we be able to defend ourselves in a court of law?
For the sake of the first amendment, for the sake of preserving our constitution, for the sake of breathing back like into our distressed democracy, we must all speak out against this travesty.
