Biden’s “Unstate” of the Union Speech

President Joe Biden will already have delivered his 2023 State of the Union Address to a joint session of Congress by the time you read this column. We go to press Tuesday, at the same time he’s due to go on the air and screen, so we’ll have a little fun in writing what we anticipate he’ll say and giving our opinion on the possible subjects. Come Wednesday morning, let’s (you and we) see what our batting average was and if we had the foresight to predict his words and strategy.

If you watch his State of the Union speech, you’ll most likely hear that our economy is booming, that there’s a job recovery, with hordes of formerly unemployed workers going back to work, due to his policies and that inflation is slowing down and as he’s told us in the past, it’s merely a transitory problem. A bunch of hogwash and more of that Biden phony smile-laced vocabulary. Also, to prevent you from drifting off, try to count the number of times he mentions the word, “I” when he proclaims responsibility for the imagined successes he recounts.

He will likely point to the latest unemployment figure of 3.6%, as good news. But that is due to the reopening of many formerly Covid related business shut downs that he forced and the resulting re-hiring. Not new real jobs, at all. Mainly low-pay fast food employees. As well, there are now 10.5 million job openings available, but no takers due to the Biden give-away programs that are still lingering which pay-people-to-stay-home. He’ll not discuss that. He will probably discount the real fears of an ongoing recession we’re heading into, according to many financial experts not employed by the government. Inflation is climbing. Check out your sales slips for the prices you paid for eggs, milk, bread and the asking price for the new house you plan to purchase. Shortages of many household items are evident. And don’t forget the zooming gas prices at the pump. He’ll have to take the knee to Iran, Arabia and Venezuela again.

Biden will surely blame the border crisis on the Republicans who have demanded, without success, that  it be closed to both illegal aliens and the devastating drug, Fentanyl, that is killing over a hundred thousand of our citizens yearly. But he and his fellow Dems have ignored the problem, claiming the border is already secure. A lie. A murderous one.

He’ll claim Ukraine will eventually defeat Russia due to our aid to them. Will he tell us truthfully, how many of our dollars are being drained into the pockets of that country’s oligarchs’ pockets? And just think about just how much influence do Hunter Biden’s Ukrainian partners have on our president?? Will he remind us that prior to Russia’s invasion, he muttered that a “small incursion” by Russia would be OK. And look how that minor incursion has blossomed. Whose fault?

Will he tell us that his most recent visit to Israel/Palestinian controlled territories, was a success? We’d like to hear his condemnation of the slaughter of 12 Israelis just last week at the hands of Palestinian terrorists. Not likely.

And how many pats on the back will he give himself for his handling of the Chinese “weather balloon” that sailed nearly across this nation before our citizens were made aware of it? That military boondoggling was as horrific as our retreat from Afghanistan. Our bet; he’ll take a victory lap for shooting this balloon down. It’ll be another Biden whopper. A tragically funny one.

And sadly the parents of Tyre Nichols, who was beaten to death by five black cops in Memphis will be guests for the speech. Will Joe blame “white supremacy” or “racism” for this tragedy? His catering to the lunatics in his party lead us to believe he will do just that. And what of the crime wave sweeping over the land with Progressive DA’s catering to criminals, not victims? “How’re you handling that?” you may shout at the screen.

But swaying the public to support his re-election run in 2024, as this speech is groomed to do, will be a hard task. An NBC poll found that only 31% believe Biden to be competent and effective, president-wise, while 71% say the country is on the wrong track. Bad numbers. That’s why his speech will be like spitting into the wind, but we’ll tune it in, anyway to see just what “bubkis” he’ll toss at us and how effectively he’ll deliver it. Watch it and let us hear from you.
