The War of the Windsors Continue as Prince Harry Promotes His Forthcoming Memoir

Edited by: Fern Sidman

Coming off all the media buzz concerning his six part docuseries for Netflix about his problems with the royal family, Prince Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, is now prepping to promote his scathing memoir, which is set to be released within days.

Playing to an American audience that has a salacious appetite for royal gossip and is naturally inclined to favor the bashing of what they perceive to be an outdated and politically incorrect monarcly, Prince Harry is ready to continue dishing the dirt about his father, the new king of England and the commonwealth, as well as his brother, Prince William, the new Prince of Wales.

Until a few years ago, Harry had maintained a lifelong close relationship with this brother and the two were the best of buddies, but that all changed when Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle stepped into the picture.

Harry is beyond convinced that Buckingham Palace and the “institution” of the monarchy is out to severely damage he and his wife by leaking information to the British tabloids and planting negative stories in the press about them. He claims that the palace does everything in its power to protect his brother and father from the emergence of negative and scandalous stories appearing in the press but acts in concert with the media on some perceived campaign to drive him and wife as far from them as possible.

The Guardian of the UK reported that the royal family’s mantra, according to Harry, is: “Never complain, never explain.”

When speaking with Anderson Cooper, of CBS News’ 60 Minutes about his memoir called, “Spare”  Harry claims that it is “just a motto” and that behind the scenes a lot of complaining does go on. He implies it manifests itself in “spoon-fed stories” to a compliant press, according to the Guardian report.

He seizes on the subject of royal correspondents,  and their alleged collusion with Buckingham Palace “in the briefing and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife”.

When Harry sits down with Tom Bradby, the ITV news anchor,  Harry says: “I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back.” The clips cut to him saying “it never needed to be this way”, and “I want a family, not an institution”, as he claims it suited to paint him and his wife, Meghan, as “villains,” as was reported by the Guardian.

Now living in a $15 million mansion in tony Montecito, California with Meghan and their two young children, Harry is using the royal family to significantly expand his bank account as he has been paid $100 million from Netflix for dumping on the royals, as well as collecting another $25 million from Spotify for producing podcasts and the $35 to $40 million that he will be raking in the four-book deal with Penguin Random House.

If any of the royals do react publicly, the bookies’ money would be on the Prince of Wales, according to the Guardian. Harry has already alleged his brother screamed and shouted at him during the Sandringham meeting that sealed the Sussexes’ departure from the UK and the royal fold.

Thus far, the king and the Prince of Wales and everyone else concerned have maintained their dignity through silence with the old British adage of “carry on” no matter what.

Pundits have been opining as to whether Harry and Meghan will have the gumption to show up at the May coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey.  It appears that the King will extend an invitation to his rebellious younger son and his actress wife. Being that Harry and Meghan are essentially loathed by a large swath of the British people, the formerly royal couple could be in for some serious booing and catcalls should they decide to attend.

Many believe that the couple has no choice but to attend despite the opprobrium that is being broadcasted towards them by the British people. Royal family experts and analysts believe that the couple’s economic future depends on them maintaining ties with the royal family. For after all, why would anyone listen or pay attention to these two people if not for their links and direct connection to the family that they are trashing to make some big bucks.

Also in question is whether the King will revoke the Sussexes titles as “Duke and Duches”s as the couple appears intent of eviscerating the family that bestowed these titles on them. Without these titles, their future income will be negatively impacted as their job opportunities will be circumscribed to them.

They feel they have a moral and ethical right to slander the royal family in the most vicious of ways and still be entitled to reap the rewards of being linked to them.
