Hunter Biden Asks Court to Stop Love Child from Taking his Surname

Hunter Biden petitioned in court to keep his 4-year-old daughter from taking on his surname.

As reported by the NY Post, the president’s son told a judge that having his last name would just lead to too much criticism and potentially rob the child of a “peaceful existence.”   Hunter Biden’s request was submitted on Jan. 6, amid an ongoing paternity case in Independence, Arkansas.  The first son has been in a court battle against his former lover, Lunden Roberts, in a bid to lower his child support payments for their love child, Navy Joan Roberts.

Towards the end of December, Ms. Roberts, 31, asked Circuit Court Judge Holly Meyer to allow their daughter to take on the Biden name, claiming it would benefit their daughter because it is “now synonymous with being well educated, successful, financially acute and politically powerful.”  However, the 52-year-old Biden has told the court, he disagrees with the value of the surname, inferring that he would rather spare the child the trouble of the tarnished name.

Hunter has indeed had more than his fair share of negative press, with a probe into his questionable foreign business deals, struggle with crack addiction, and having been caught on camera undressed, waiving a gun around while in the company of a prostitute.  He became the focus of national controversy after emails and records from his recovered laptop allegedly revealed a plot to sell his father’s influence for millions of dollars to American adversaries.  The first son referenced these disconcerting episodes as proof that his family name has long been sullied.  In court, Hunter Biden’s lawyer, made a motion requesting the judge deny Roberts’ request to use the name for their daughter, arguing that the child should be allowed decide for herself when she’s older.

He noted that she could make her own choice later, when “the disparagement of the Biden name is not at its height.”  In showing that the name is not at its prime, Biden references Robert’s earlier criticism and “disparaging comments in various other motions and responses”, including regarding the federal probe into his taxes as well as his controversial dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

Back in 2019, Ms. Roberts had reportedly tried to redact their daughter’s name and any other identifying information about her from the public court record.  Now, the tables are turned, and the mom wants the child to carry his name.  As per the Post, Hunter Biden says the motivation for this change is “political warfare” against the family.  Roberts contends that the Biden name will open up opportunities for their daughter “just like it has for other members of the Biden family.”  She adds that the name change will also help make up for the fact that her daughter remains “estranged” from the first family.  “To the extent, this is misconduct or neglect, it can be rectified by changing her last name to Biden so that she may undeniably be known to the world as the child of the defendant and member of the prestigious Biden family,” Roberts said in her filing.

Hunter Biden had initially denied having sex with Roberts, a former stripper in Arkansas, whom he reportedly met when she worked at a club in Washington, DC.   In 2019, however, a DNA test had confirmed that he is indeed the child’s father.  The case had then been settled outside of court in 2020, but this September it was reopened when Biden sought to lower his child support payments, citing a “substantial material change” in his “financial circumstances.”

Neither Biden not Roberts responded to the Post’s request for comment.
