Amid further revelations of the Biden administration’s collusion with media and Big Tech to suppress viewpoints that counter its narrative on the COVID-19 pandemic and issues such as climate change and election integrity, a top United Nations official boasted the global elites “own the science,” acknowledging the world body is partnering with Google in an information war.
Melissa Fleming, the U.N.’s under-secretary for global communications, was speaking at an event hosted by the World Economic Forum in New York City from Sept. 19 to 23 called the Sustainable Development Impact Meetings.
In a discussion titled “Tackling Disinformation at the Sustainable Development Impact Meetings 2022,” Fleming explained that when someone searches on Google a term such as “climate change,” “you will get all kinds of U.N. resources.”
She told Adrian Monck, who heads WEF’s public and social engagement, that when the Google partnership began, “we were shocked to see that when we Googled climate change, we were getting incredibly distorted information right at the top” of the search results.
“So we’re becoming much more proactive,” Fleming said.
“We own the science, and we think that the world should know it, and the platform themselves also do.”
She said the information war is a “huge challenge” in which “all sectors of society need to be very active.”
See Fleming’s remarks:
Earlier this month in an address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern urged the world leaders to partner in controlling speech online, contending they have “the means” to do it but “just need the collective will.”
Last week, Just the News reported a consortium of four private groups worked with the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department to censor social media posts regarded as “misinformation” during the 2020 election campaign.
The Biden administration, after “pausing” its plan in May to establish a Disinformation Governance Board described by critics as “Orwellian,” declared it would continue to combat “disinformation.”
In March, Biden’s surgeon general demanded that the major social media companies submit detailed information about the COVID-19 “misinformation” on their platforms.
In February, as WND reported, DHS issued a bulletin naming “proliferation of false or misleading narratives” regarding COVID-19 and the 2020 election as among the top terror threats.
