On August 23, 2022, senior officials from the administration of Mayor Eric Adams convened at Bnos Chaya located in the Willowbrook section of Staten Island a meeting with the leadership of the Staten Island’s Jewish community. In attendance was Dr. Ingrid Lewis-Martin, Chief Advisor to Mayor Eric Adams, Joel Eisdorfer, Senior Advisor to Mayor Eric Adams,  Fred Kreizman Commissioner of Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, Edward Caban, NYPD First Deputy Commissioner, Inspector Richard Taylor, Commanding Officer Community Affairs and Community Outreach, NYPD, Rabbi David Heskiel, NYPD Clergy Liaison who was joined by Chief Gin Yee, Staten Island Borough Commander together with Lt. Rafet Awad, Commanding Officer, Community Affairs, Patrol Borough Staten Island, Captain Eric Perez, Executive Officer, Pct. 120, Captain Eric Waldhelm, Commanding Officer, Pct. 121, Inspector Timothy Wilson, Commanding Officer, Pct. 122, and Inspector Andrey Smirnov, Pct. 123, for a great meeting between the Mayor’s Office, NYPD and COJO.

On August 24, 2022, at the Gerard Carter Center located in the Stapleton section of Staten Island Mayor Eric Adams held a Boroughwide Townhall meeting that had a particular focus and emphasize on a Public Safety.

Mendy Mirocznik, President of the Staten Island Council of Jewish Organizations (COJO) expressed his “strong admiration and deep appreciation that Mayor Eric Adams took the time from his busy schedule to first have senior members of his administration meet with community leadership to discuss important issues pertaining to the community in particular and then personally held a round table discussion at a public Townhall addressing both the particular issues of our community and the broader issues facing Staten Island as a whole. This truly is remarkable and the sign and evidence of a mayor who is on top of the city and has strong hands-on leadership. All too often in recent years people feel left out of the discussion and believe sadly that government is inattentive, out to lunch and is ignoring our needs and could not careless. Mayor Adams leadership style is different and unique.

He together with his senior staff and advisors meets and listens to the residents of the city and he himself as the mayor takes the time and patience to address the people’s concerns. This productive and revolutionary approach to the Mayoralty is Mayor Eric Adams greatest strength, the focus on kitchen table concerns and community issues. This approach is a breath of fresh air and is the reason why the city is transitioning and has a healthy, bright and robust future. Thank you Mayor Adams for being the leader you pledged you will be. I can only see more confidence and community trust in you and your administration, I know that together with this great working partnership that the best is yet to come.”
