Bklyn Man Arrested for Stalking Singer Taylor Swift’s NYC Home

On Friday, a Brooklyn man was arrested for allegedly stalking singer Taylor Swift “across multiple states,” and at her home in Manhattan’s Tribeca.  Joshua Christian of Crown Heights, was charged with stalking and criminal trespass, the NYPD said.

As reported by the NY Post, on Saturday, he was slapped with an order to stay away from the pop star.  The 35-year-old reportedly went to Swift’s residential property on Franklin Street in March and again in June, as per the police.  “The defendant has not only repeatedly shown up to Ms. Swift’s home here in New York but has traveled to her home in Tennessee as well,” a prosecutor said at Christian’s arraignment held in Manhattan criminal court on Saturday night.  “You’re dead you know. You’re holding her prisoner and I need to set her free,” Christian reportedly said into the intercom of Swift’s Tribeca Franklin Street home on June 12, according to the assistant district attorney.  “The people are also investigating an additional incident of stalking and are awaiting video surveillance to confirm the defendant’s identity,” the prosecutor noted.

Christian allegedly entered the building at 153 Franklin St. through an unlocked door on March 26, and remained inside “unlawfully,” police said.  The accused stalker only fled the three-story townhouse after being approached by security, police said.

The singer of “Shake It Off” owns the $18 million townhouse.  The home is 27 feet wide and boasts 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.  The home was fully renovation in 2012 by famed Architect/Designer Leopoldo Rosati. The Tribeca home is located just blocks away from Soho and the Financial District.

Swift, the 32-year-old songwriter and superstar has sold over 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Eight of her songs have topped the Hot 100, and her concert tours are among of the highest-grossing in history. She has received 11 Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, 34 American Music Awards, 29 Billboard Music Awards and 58 Guinness World Records.  As of July 2022, Swift has a net worth of about $400 million, and as of May you can also call her Dr. Thanks to her honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from New York University.

This is certainly not the first time Swift was targeted by stalkers.  Nonetheless, Judge Eric Schumacher issued a full order of protection for Christian to stay away from the star.  As per the Post, the judge also sent Christian to jail without bail for fleeing a reckless driving charge in Florida.  That court date has been set for July 28. Christian’s lawyer asked for a psychiatric and mental evaluation.  “I am a Christian scientist,” he yelled, ranting about his Legal Aid lawyer during the proceeding. “I don’t desire this individual to represent me. This is the worst miscarriage of justice since the crucifiction of Christ Jesus. I am representing myself.”  Christian allegedly got quite angry while being arraigned on Saturday afternoon.
