Zeldin Campaign Signs Defaced with Nazi Symbols and Threats

By:  Mario Mancini

Long Island was the scene of the latest anti-Semitic hate crime as the signs of GOP Gubernatorial front runner Lee Zeldin were defaced by swastikas and other nazi symbols.

The New York Post reports: the hateful message — which included a swastika and the number 187 — was found on a sign in a yard in Huntington, Suffolk County, the congressman’s home turf, his campaign said in a statement. Zeldin’s representatives said the number 187 is the California penal code for murder — and “has been universally adopted as a common death threat.”

Zeldin rep Katie Vincentz added in a statement to The New York Post, “In the United States, we settle our scores at the ballot box, and this type of raw hate must never have any home on Long Island or anywhere else in our state and country. Congressman Zeldin is thankful for the Suffolk County Police Department as they work to identify the perpetrators.”

According to his Wikipedia page, Zeldin was born January 30, 1980 and is an American attorney, member of Congress, and officer in the United States Army Reserve. A Republican, he has represented New York’s 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2015. He represents the eastern two-thirds of Suffolk County, including most of Smithtown, the entirety of Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southold, Southampton, East Hampton, Shelter Island, and a small portion of Islip. From 2011 to 2014, Zeldin served as a member of the New York State Senate from the 3rd Senate district.

The latest poll from Real Clear Politics’ two-week polling average showed Zeldin with 32.5% of the primary vote vs. 20% for his closest challenger, Giuliani. Zeldin is also endorsed by The New York Post.

Zeldin as of press time, is a favorite but polls from late last week, show the race tightening and Andrew Giuliani   is within striking distance.

Zeldin would face Governor Hochul, the presumed winner of Tuesday’s Democratic Primary in November.  Meanwhile long short Candidate Harry Wilson. Bitterly blasted front-runner Lee Zeldin and a campaign aide as “scumbags” in a text message — and then accidentally sent it to his rival, The Post has learned.

NY Post reported: Wilson fumed over getting called out for condemning an attack on fellow GOP hopeful Andrew Giuliani’s dad, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, while not saying anything about a Zeldin campaign sign getting defaced with a backward swastika and a slang reference to murder.
