As Iran Operates Freely in Syria, Israel Needs to Destroy Palaces of Bashar al-Assad

Over the years Israel has been monitoring and responding to Iran’s attempt to use their terrorist proxy, Hezbollah, in Syria to transfer deadly weaponry to neighboring Lebanon for the clear purpose of using these sophisticated armaments against Israel in their next war.

Thanks to the professional of Israel’s intelligence networks, many Iranian weapons transfers to Lebanon have been foiled by Israel as the Jewish state counters such measures with military strikes of pinpoint precision aimed at Hezbollah convoys.

Last week, Israel staged a successful attack on Damascus Airport that was intended to prevent the Iranian smuggling of terror-related weapons into Syria via civilian flights, according to published report.

As a result of the attack, the Damascus Airport was ordered closed by the presiding authorities and commercial passenger flights were suspended.

As previously mentioned, this was not the only time that Iran has attempted to infiltrate Syria with weaponry to be used against Israel. Iran’s henchmen in Syria and Lebanon are the terror group Hezbollah and they clearly have no intention of ceasing such aggression.

When former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cut a deal with the Russian government (who controls Syria) that they would do everything in their power to stop Iran from smuggling weapons into Syria in exchange for Israeli support in the region, matters appeared to be under control but somehow, Iran managed to crawl under the radar and the smuggling attempts continued.

The London-based Arabic news outlet Elaph reported on Monday evening that an Israeli source told them that relations between Israel and Russia have deteriorated since the latter’s invasion of Ukraine.

One of the manifestations of the deterioration of ties is that Russia has begun to allow Iranian operatives to move toward southern Syria, in violation of an agreement between Russia and Israel to maintain an 80-kilometer (50 mile) buffer zone along the Syrian-Israeli border.

Due to international pressure, Israel had no choice but to back Ukraine’s position in the war that Russia waged against them. Yet and still, this was a difficult decision for Israel as Ukraine has a record of consistently casting votes against Israel in the United Nations. Moreover, Putin’s claims that this military operation was meant to “de-Nazify” Ukraine are not all that far from the truth.

Reports indicated that Russia’s Foreign Ministry excoriated Israel following the attack on the airport, calling it “a vicious practice of attacks on civilian infrastructure,” and “a violation of international law.”

Now, however, Israel has learned that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is giving his tacit approval to Iran’s diabolic plans to mercilessly attack Israel by allowing the rogue regime easy access to weapons transfers in his country. With the help of Hezbollah, such weapons transfers continued unabated.

It was just reported by Elaph that in response, Israel sent a clear message to al-Assad that his palace may be its next target if Syria continues to cooperate with Iran and allow the transfer of weapons into the country.

“Elaph learned from a senior source that Israel sent a message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, warning him against continuing to cover up Iran’s operations and the transfer of advanced weapons into the country, and informing him that one of his palaces would be a target in the next raid carried out by Israeli fighters in Syria,” the report stated.

We not only agree that Israel’s warning to al-Assad is completely justified but we encourage Israel to lay waste to all of al-Assad’s palatial estates in war torn Syria.

The uber-wealthy al-Assad clearly is not concerned with the dystopian conditions in which his own people live and the refugee crisis that ensued years ago, but he is now working in tandem with this Russian pay masters.

As the winds of war continue to howl at blinding speed in the tinder box known as the Middle East, there is no doubt that Iran has gained a renewed and fearless confidence, thanks to the nefarious position that al-Assad has taken in terms of allowing them a free hand in Syria.

With Russia on the war path in Ukraine, who is to tell that they won’t turn their wrath on Israel, as they seek vengeance against Israel for supporting Ukraine.

The confluence of events that are taking shape in Syria are all components of a recipe for disaster for Israel. A perfect storm is being meticulously constructed and Israel must take concrete action for its own security and for the security of all of its citizenry.

We exhort Israel to close its ears to the incessant chorus of international pressure and to begin to make good on the notification that they offered to al-Assad.

Now is the time to act, but it is too late.
