We had to blink when the news broke that the Biden administration, using the auspices of the always compliant Department of Homeland Security (DHS), announced last week that they were forming the Disinformation Governance Board (DGB) to counter what they alone, will consider to be “misinformation” related to news originating from our enemies Russia, China and strangely, of Biden’s own agency’s handling of the border crisis. Let us take the liberty of interpreting our immediate reaction: “Is this fiction spouting, chutzpah filled government setting up its own propaganda shop whose job it will be to tell Americans what is true? Haven’t they read George Orwell’s, no longer fiction work, 1984?” How stupid do they think we are? The answer is….”Plenty!”
Tulsi Gabbard, former Democrat House member from Hawaii suggested that Barack Obama is behind the Biden administration’s creation of the DGB. Apparently, social media censors such as Facebook, Twitter, Google and the likes at WAPO, the NYT, MSNBC, CNN and PBS don’t go far enough and are not considered powerful enough to help the Democrats in the forthcoming election in bending the facts in favor of the Left. An indication that they’re running scared, she claimed. Just last week, former president Obama, alleged during a speech at Stanford University, that “people are dying” from misinformation.
If you recall, his own administration, in dealing with the Mexican cartels dreamed up the “Fast and Furious” lunacy scheme to somehow or other trap and capture these hombres by handing out to them (without receipts) thousands of automatic weapons and ammo for their criminal use to actually kill people. These guns disappeared into the night with our Homeland Security Agency boasting that this tactic was successful, while slowly backing away from showing evidence.
How would the new DGB agency under the umbrella of Homeland Security, have handled that piece of misinformation? And how about White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki (the poster girl for truth) last week refusing to apologize for the Homeland Security Agency’s now debunked claim that Border Patrol agents had previously whipped Haitian migrants during their attempts to enter our country at the southern border? The DHS, the White House and the media all lied to criminally besmirch border agents on horseback who were merely controlling their horses. And we are told to trust our government to take charge of authenticating factual vs. falsehoods emanating from that same government? Nonsense!
And think about it. Is there any doubt that this new agency will not begin sticking their noses…. oops!! rather, fact checking statements on national issues that are now part of the American debate? To answer, just take a look at who will be in charge of this group. Nina Jankowicz, who is a highly partisan leftist. On the Hunter Biden laptop, she pushed the false narrative that it was a false story, fake news, and that “we should view it as a Trump campaign product.”
We shudder to think that way back in 1933 Adolph Hitler appointed Joseph Goebbels to the key post of Minister for Public Enlightenment and propaganda and gave him the responsibility to present Hitler and his Nazi party to the public in the most favorable light, regulating the content of all German media. Sound familiar? Our current government should not be in the business of having its own minister who will be charged with determining just what is truth and what is fiction. That’s the job of our citizens to decide, by having a free and open press and media available to them and a free exchange of ideas in the public square. That’s called “Freedom.” To have one person, beholden to one party to make such decisions will lead to disaster, fur sure.
