Rudy Giuliani Onboard to Campaign for Son Andrew’s Race for Governor

Rudy Giuliani is ready, willing and able to help with his son’s campaign for New York State Governor.

As reported by the NY Post, Andrew Cuomo is rolling out the big guns in his campaign.  The 36-year-old Republican’s best asset, and claim to fame, is his father, Rudy–who is now on the trail, campaigning for his son.  The former NYC Mayor, hailed for lowering crime and leading the city following the 9-11 attacks, has been making speeches across the state. He is trying to convince GOP primary voters to vote for Andrew, instead of Long Island Congressman Lee Zeldin, who has been named the official designee of the NY Republican State Committee and for the conservative party.

“I don’t think Lee is the right person at this time to be governor. I think he’s too weak,” the elder Giuliani said at a New York Young Republicans event in midtown last Tuesday. “Lee is willing to lie and be a stupid liar,” Rudy Giuliani added angrily, in response to earlier ballot challenges the Zeldin campaign had led against Andrew Giuliani.

On Sunday, Giuliani, 77, appeared at a rally in Binghamton, New York. He has also committed to other appearances possibly including a Saratoga County GOP reception on April 29. He has also been tapped for fundraisers scheduled with friends in New York and in Palm Beach at the home of Beth Ailes, the widow of former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes.  “To meet Rudy will drive attendance to Andrew’s events, Rudy will be the anchor to draw media headlines and buzz,” said one influential upstate GOP strategist.

The junior Giuliani has held White House positions under the Trump Administration – including as Associate Director of the Office of Public Liaison in 2017, and in 2019 was promoted to Special Assistant to the President.  Last year, he worked as a commentator and contributor to Newsmax TV, a job which he left to run for governor.  Giuliani also serves on the board of trustees of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

As per the Post, Zeldin claims to hold a strong 30-point lead for the June GOP Primary, based on an internal campaign poll released last week, which indicated he has support from 46 percent of Republican voters.  His Republican opponents- Giuliani, Rob Astorino, and Harry Wilson– doubt the lead is too solid, citing how hard his team worked to keep his foes’ names off the ballot.

“In terms of going after Lee it’s no holds barred,” Andrew Giuliani told The Post. “[Rudy] is going to continue to ramp up his public appearances and continue to travel around the state.”
