Carnage on New York City Subway: 10 Shot, 16 Wounded, Smoke Bombs Used, Not labeled as Terrorism

(TJV News) 10  people have been shot and 16  injured in the New York City subway system Tuesday morning just prior to 8:30 AM, according to emerging reports.

This occurred on the platform of the 36th station in Brooklyn, the D, N, R train line, the NYPD commissioner, Keechant Sewell,  stated, however, said the shooting began on the actual train car, when the suspect put the gas mask on and began firing. The suspect removed a smoke bomb from his backpack, put on a gas mask and began firing.

NYPD held a press briefing with the police commissioner and the NY  Governor. The commissioner said thus far there are no deaths. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’5 tall, wearing a green vest. Officials, later announced a U-Haul Vehicle with Arizona plates may have a connection to the subway attack

The attack is considered an active shooter situation, not a terrorist attack, which is strange, considering the attack appears to be pre-planned.

5 of the victims are in critical but stable condition, according to the press briefing.

Mayor Adams, who is in quarantine after recently testing positive for COVID delivered a statement.

The New York Times reports while investigators are unsure if explosives were detonated during the attack they have ascertained since “that no active explosive devices had been found at the scene.”

NBC New York identifies the location of the incident as the Brooklyn subway station and notes that “several law enforcement sources said the shooter may have thrown a device before opening fire.”

NBC New York observes that “several undetonated devices were also found at the location.”

Police are searching for the attacker, who is described as being “5 feet 5 inches tall and 180 pounds…[and] wearing a gas mask and an orange construction vest.”
