The famed actor, Bruce Willis, has already sold off some $65 million worth of his prized real estate assets.

Famous for starring in “Die Hard” and dozens of other hit movies and TV Shows as a humorous and hard-edged character, the 67-year-old has recently been diagnosed with Aphasia, a disease which affects cognitive ability, language and comprehension.   His family announced that he has retired from his acting career, due to the diagnosis.

As reported by the NY Post, his family and friends said he has been preparing for a decline in his health and selling off his luxury assets for years.  “Bruce has been preparing for this moment for a long time. He knew there would be a time, as his health declined, when his earning power wouldn’t be as great as it once was,” a source who knows the actor told Page Six.  “Plus he knew that he wouldn’t eventually need multiple estates and apartments to travel between, and that he would instead need to live in a safe environment surrounded by his family.”  The source stressed that he will focus on settled down for a quieter life in California with his family.  “Looking at how he has sold off most of his properties in recent years, it is clear that he has been preparing to downsize and simplify his life for a number of years.”

Mr. Willis and his wife, Emma Heming, already began offloading when they sold their Westchester, N.Y., estate for $7.66 million in December 2019. The 13.56 acre mansion had originally listed for $12.96 million, before being sold for a fraction of that price.  The couple had purchased the home in 2014 for $12 million, taking a loss of some $4 million.   “The only reason we are giving it up is because we are so far from our California family, which is why we have decided to return to the West Coast and make our home there,” Willis had commented at the time.  He had then forked over $9.8 million to purchase a new mansion in Brentwood, Calif.

In 2018, the couple also sold their Central Park West duplex for $17.75 million.  As per the Post, the same year, he sold his mountain home in Sun Valley, Idaho, for $5.5 million.  The original asking price had been close to three times that much, at a cool $15 million.  In 2019, Willis and Heming also sold their oversized 13,500-square-foot beachfront mansion in Turks and Caicos, for a whopping $27 million.
